Best condition this year
Paired up with a foursome.
Labor day, so every tee time was full.
9 holes 2 1/2 hours
But...
Every hole was in excellent condition. Even the rough was trimmed to near fairway level. Miss hits were in play. Greens were so true.and already aerated firm...
Going back on Wednesday
Course Needs a Lot of Work
I can certainly deal with the aeration of the greens. However, several sand traps were either muddy or almost clay like hard. A few were muddy and full of goose droppings. The course finally has all new carts, but many of the cart paths need repair and re-paving. The tee boxes were being aerated. Now the Golf NY has taken over, they do need to start continuously alternate the tee boxes because this course are historically always badly beat up. The fairways were ok for this time of year. Rain definitely helped this year. The staff are always friendly at this course.
Why can’t the staff put drinking water in the coolers. It should not be that difficult. The men’s club pace is laboriously slow. They do not observe keeping their carts away from the green.
Stop wasting your money and supporting this place
I’ve given this place chance after chance after chance to get things right but every time I’m disappointed. They have the best layout on the island, but refuse to do the right thing. Greens weren’t cut and were beat up on top of that, tee boxes in shambles year round, fringe around greens completely dried out, majority of bunkers are unplayable. Forget about a ranger to push pace of play with 5 hour minimums on weekends. $20 for a cart unless you ride with someone, then it’s $40 which is the biggest racket they have going. With that $40 cart you don’t even have sand to patch divots, let alone have a GPS. $80 to play a week day round here is an absolute joke. No more
Flew through in 3hr 30min
Surprisingly fast paced round for Staten Island.
Course is in the best shape it has been in years!
Wet conditions
Normally if a course is wet from morning dew, tee times are delayed.
The grounds crew were trying to dry the course, especially the greens. Every hit off the tee stuck in the fairway, no bounce. And the greens every putt sprayed water and the distance was cut in half. By the last 6 holes, the crew finished thing the greens....
The course should've delayed tee time by an hour
Greens weren’t cut, 5 hour round
Been playing here for over 30 years. Will never play at near 12 noon again on a Saturday. They book tee times every 9 minutes with 25-30 handicap players. Ridiculous. 2 guys out of the Group ahead of us playing from the blue tees that should not have. 2 and 4 groups ahead of them couldn’t hit the ball 20 yards off the tee. No rangers pushing players.
The grass on the greens looked like they weren’t cut in a week, granted it rained most of this week up until today but no excuse. It was like putting on the fringe !!! All 18 holes. Even the practice putting green was the same. Only good thing was the range and new carts. $62 to walk and $90 to ride. They should’ve gave refunds for poor greens and no rangers.
LaTourette
There needs to be rangers to keep the pace of play up to standard. There was a group about 4 groups ahead of mine that was very slow and lengthened my playing time and that of many other groups behind them by a solid 45 minutes. Unacceptable. Generally, the course is in good condition. It’s my favorite muni-course in NYC.
