Golfer Reviews
Nice layout, but greens are unreasonably slow
Nice track. Layout is nice and the fairways are in good shape. If you enjoy playing a course with greens that break or roll, this is not for you. I found myself forcefully hitting the ball down hill to get it to roll to the green.
Cart
This course has nice cart with GPS, but there are charging $20 per person not per cart.
Weekend over $80....
5 hours of pain
You would think with a threesome in front of you that your group would not be waiting. We waited on every hole. Green were airated so played terribly. Used to love this course, wont come back anytime soon.
Great challenge
Front 9 is relatively easy. Back nine with narrow approaches more difficult. But fun! Disappointed cart was not included.
Want to up your game? Spook Rock has challenges for all levels. Well laid out, some forgiveness but lookout for those branches! Really love the new timings between tee times. Results in a much better golfer experience
Great course
This course is a great course to play for all levels of golfers. Jim McCann The golf pro, is excellent. He is very professional and Knowledgeable.. I highly recommend him for lessons.
Worth it!
Hadn’t played this tract in 20 years and today was the day. Ramapo, NY operates this as a muni but it’s just terrific. First thing that struck me was it has the atmosphere of a private club. Junior golf program, friendly staff and lots of action.
The design is very well done; lots of elevation changes (but not excessive); parkland course. Longer holes blend generous fairways with well placed bunkers. Greens are spacious and very well groomed. Speed quite good and considering undulations, putting is challenging in a good way.
Will look for a way to get back here soon.
Felt like I was playing in a PGA event
The greenskeepers do a phenomonal job keeping this course pristine. Challenging yet fair with a great layout. Always loved this course as a kid and haven't played it in 15 years. Best it's ever been!
A Don't-Miss kind of experience
This course is fabulous. One of the best layouts you will find anywhere. It rewards good shots and penalizes bad shots, but never in an unfair manner. What more could you want from a course? It used to suffer from poor management and maintenance but all that changed a couple of seasons ago when a real golf course management company took over the operations from the municipality that owns it. The transformation into a private club quality kind of golf experience has been nothing short of remarkable. I play this course all the time. The greens are in the best shape they have ever been in. Full, lush, cut and rolled every morning, no bare spots and consistent in speed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A well run operation all the way around. The only negative is that the clubhouse needs to be replaced. Getting the Town of Ramapo to make that investment though is a long shot at best.
Course was in great shape. Especially couple days after huge storm.
Well worth the trip
I made the drive up from NYC, about an hour, and was not disappointed. Course was in excellent shape, pace of play was never a concern, greens and fairways were more than acceptable. Staff was friendly and helpful.
I will certainly be back soon!
