Great shape
The tees were in better condition than I remember. The greens were in good shape and putted true. The fairways and rough were mowed. Our group was behind a foursome and still finished in under 4 hours. Overall a fun round.
Really nice course with a couple surprises
Staff is professional and very friendly. Fairways and greens are well kept and most of the tee boxes are what they should be. The surrounding grounds are also taken care of and very pleasant. I think most players will find 12 & 13 to be really fun and challenging, they are my 2 favorites. The couple things I feel need some attention would be cart path maintenance/ improvements and hole designation plaques/markers at the tee boxes (they don't exist).
Overall I feel this is a decent course worth the fees but I am far from an expert. I think there is a high enough challenge for the experienced golfer and still offers accessibility to beginners and casual players (which is where I classify myself). I like to play as many different courses as I can but Paradise Valley is on my list of repeat courses.
Poorly Managed
Was paired up with 2 other singles, which is fine, but they wanted to have me share a cart with a stranger. When I said I booked through golf now which includes a cart, they tried to charge each of us $5 extra to not share a cart, which is not how paying online works.
Course was completely overbooked, and saw a group of 8. No Marshall to improve pace of play. After 2 hours and 40 minutes on the front 9, they got the better of me and got to keep my money. Couldn’t bare a 6 hour round on an average course in a cart with someone I just met. Would not recommend unless it’s a weekday out of season for someone who isn’t concerned with course quality. Only fun is if you can drive the cart all 18 holes without getting a flat tire on their horrendous “cart path.”
I love the staff at this course. They go above and beyond for you. The course is pretty and close to home. The only complaint I have is the tee boxes need some improvements and can be hard to get your tee in the ground. We had a fun day of golf and will be back
Great course for the value and knocking balls around.
Greens were great. Props. If you are expecting this course to be similar to a private course conditions, it is not. The course is what exactly it’s meant to be for the price. Grab some beers knock the ball around and enjoy.
Ok for the money…
If I were to give out grades, they’d be (best to worst)
Greens: A - Well-kept, cut nicely
Fairways: B - Not great but not terrible. There were a few issues with upkeep.
Tee boxes: C - this would be my biggest issue. First there are no number markers. So unless your familiar with the course, or the staff volunteers to tell you, you’ll not know where to actually start. The guy the staff partnered with me and I both thought we were starting on the first hole, but it ended up we were at the 10th hole. He had played the course and had always started there. I had never played but it seemed natural for it to be number 1. It wasn’t until we hit 11 (as the flags had no numbers either) that we realized we weren’t on number 2 as number 2 was 3 par and 11 was not.
The 12th hole is so far away from 11, had to cross the street in the cart and take a ride through the woods to get there. And when we did, there were rubber matts (like used in driving ranges) where we’d tee off. Not a problem if there were rubber tees with them. But there weren’t and we couldn’t really puncture the rubber to put our owns tees in them.
Cart Paths: D - pot holes—lots of pot holes.
Driving Range: D - again, rubber matts without any tees. I practiced with my own tees in between the matts.
Decent course
The fairways and around the greens were very patchy and the course itself was very dry which it shouldn’t be with all the rain we had. The price and greens were great though.
Value priced course
PV is a good course for the price. It offers a few challenging holes, a few narrow fairways, a good staff, however the cart paths are about as bad as it gets. Tee boxes are typically dry. Make sure you go on non peak hours. This course likes to over book the tea times.
This course needs a lot of wirk
Greens were in pretty good shape. Tee boxes were really bad. Most fairways were not very good. Pace of play is always an issue here.
Course needs help
Tee boxes are bad and the fairways are terrible.
The rough is pretty deep which makes it hard to find your ball and slows down play. Hard to advance the ball. The cart path is broken and rough in many places. I will say that the greens were in really good condition. All in all, just ok.
Gonna need your sand wedge for the tee box
The course is in serious need of a good irrigation system and work on the tee boxes. Just horrendous. Might as well just put mats on the boxes.
