First time, definitely not my last.
It was my first time playing this course, and I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent condition of the course. Considering the time of year, it was remarkably well-maintained. The course layout featured tight fairways, which I found challenging and enjoyable. I only used my driver about four times throughout the round, relying heavily on my long irons. Surprisingly, a few of the greens were quite difficult due to their tabletop slopes and elevations. I can imagine this course being intimidating for a high handicap player. Overall, I had a great time and will definitely be returning to play there again. I can’t wait to get back out there!
Great Course
Good Layout, Decent Challenges for all levels, and a good amount of up and downs.
Great NYC Course
Long distances to the fairway off the tee makes this a challenge.
Long wait
Layout is challenging but not maintained properly.. wait in every hole for 15 to 20 minutes in each hole and greens are bumpy..
Challenging course for beginners
It’s a nice course to showcase your abilities as a beginner. The fairways are open. The par 3s are limited. Good bang for your buck. Staff is friendly. The pace is always an issue due to lack of staff. If they added a ranger to their staff it would make it faster to play a full 18.
Simple but getting improve of the greens & tee box.
Good for beginners but kind of dangerous too. Tee box next to the green. Fairway don't have enough tall trees to divide...balls is flying from different direction. Good luck!
Greens & tee boxes condition is getting better, wondering are they under new management?
Holes
Unfortunately, whoever is in charge of making new holes don’t know what they’re doing. Every edge of every hole were all with frail edges. Not one hole was cleanly cut otherwise the greens were in great shape.
Your typical public course
The pace of play is horrible they send people out like every 5 minutes in the morning it’s almost a 5 hour round everytime I play
Forest Park Golf
Forest Park Golf Course is a solid choice for golfers looking to squeeze in a round without venturing far from the city. For a course that sees as much play as it does, it’s in surprisingly good shape. The greens roll true, the fairways are maintained well enough to be playable and enjoyable, and the pace of play is generally reasonable considering how popular it is.
What really makes Forest Park stand out is its unbeatable convenience. You won’t find many 27-hole public courses this close to downtown that still offer such accessibility and value. Whether you're a casual weekend golfer or someone trying to get a quick nine in after work, the location alone makes it a go-to option.
It’s not a resort-style course, and you shouldn’t expect country club conditions—but for an affordable, centrally located muni, Forest Park delivers. It’s a staple for a reason.
Fun Course
Played this past week and had a great time. The course was in amazing shape considering all the rain that came through. Be aware that once you start, you don’t come back to the clubhouse until hole 18. There are no bathrooms on the course.
