Destroyed and not well maintained
We’re all desperate to get out during the winter months but I’m not sure this was even worth it. Tee markers were only present on the first tee box. Every tee box thereafter was a total guessing game. No signs even telling you which hole you’re approaching or about to play. Garbage all over the course, tee boxes are complete dirt, and the flags didn’t even sit securely in the cups. The greens were also horribly shape. I can’t believe they’re asking $50 plus $20 per person for a cart. Hate to be so negative but it just seems like it’s easy enough to put tee markers and hole numbers on all the holes. Really wonder where all the money is going.
Craters
Besides the snow which we can't fault them for. The greens that we're perfectly cleared had structural damage. As if there is no respect
Forest Park Trashed By Neglect
Forest park is a lovely and wonderful golf course that is being destroyed by the current management. There are greens that were severely damaged by vandals in golf carts in August that are still unrepaired. There are greens with alternate hole locations uncovered.
There are flagsticks that are worn out and can’t even stay in place.
Their is duck poop all over several greens that makes it impossible to putt. Why can’t this be cleared? There are no longer any tee markers on the course except for Hole 1.
They want to rake in the money yet make no effort to EDUCATE all the hordes of new golfers on how to help maintain a golf course. The number of unsightly ball marks on every green is really sad. They need to inform golfers to repair ball marks and divots.
The city needs to address all these issues with the management or find a better more capable team to run this and other city courses. It’s a shame because this course is an 1896 jewel.
Golfing At Forest Park in Cold Weather
Fairly challenging course. The lack markers to indicate the distances on where your golf ball is to the green/pin.
Great views and nice layout
I like the layout. Only complaint was tire marks in fairways and even one or two greens, but probably due to mud from recent rain.
The greens can get tricky.
Still decent
Used to play Forest quite often. First time in 2020. The course is still in great shape. Almost all the greens were excellent, except for 2. Some idiots decided to do donuts on them with the cart or an atv. No problems with the fairways. Only complaint would be some tee boxes are just dirt. Overall still a great deal and a fun course that makes you utilize all the clubs in your bag. Will play here again.
Underrated
The only reason I didn't give excellent for overall is you don't get wow'd by the course.
It's fun, challenging, well maintained and the closest course to Manhattan. Even when my game was disappointing, the course wasn't
It's worth the trip
Forest
One of the best bangs for your buck courses in NYC. A little bit of a ball guzzler, but great play.
