Course needs work
Fairways could use a mow, greens could use a mow and a roll, tee boxes could use grass, but all in all for being in the middle of Queens it’s acceptable golf
A Good Surprise
When booking this course, I had never played here and wanted to check out as many Long Island/Queens courses as possible during this crazy COVID year as possible. Played around 30 rounds so far this season, and this is the best Queens course so far (played Douglaston, Kissena this year). Grounds were in great condition, rough more than manageable and the greens challenging but fair. Hilly terrain, so be aware of that if you are walking the course. Beverage/Snacks cart came around 2x during our round, which was good enough. One criticism is due to layout, not easy to make a pitstop and get a sandwich or some substinance after the front 9 is completed. But great course, will definitely play again!
Great Round...for cheap!
Got a great Walking rate deal for my 4some. Paid for 1 cart, sent out early by the starter and we had perfect weather. I have always loved the unique holes on this course, particularly on the front nine. The tee-boxes and fairways were in terrible shape...greens were better. I realize it is due to Covid, but not having any food, water, port a potties, etc is very challenging. But I played well on the back, so that helped. Overall, a nice day!
DO NOT PLAY!!! HIGHWAY ROBBERY AND BORDERLINE DANGEROUS
It is absolutely obscene that my round cost $80 with a cart. The course is in abysmal condition. The tee boxes are embarrassing, and the greens were some of the worst I’ve ever played on. God knows what they are doing with the money we give them for the round. I can tell you it ain’t going into course maintenance.
There is a 100 yard area of the course with three greens and two two tee boxes adjacent to each other. My friend got DRILLED by a ball. It probably happens all the time there though.
They call it a par 70 but they basically pick a few par 4s arbitrarily and call them par 5s. Should be a 68. I will NEVER play here again unless there is a significant price drop.
2 star review
Tee boxes were either dirt or weeds. A lot of maintenance has not been done on course. No ranger and no visible maintenance people on course. Overpriced cart fee of $21 each whether you share or double up. No yardage markers on course. Greens need to be cut—- no roll at all
RE: FIX THE TEE BOXES & GREENS
I played today for the first time and was really not happy with the tee boxes - muddy and sand everywhere and not to mention weeds on some tee boxes ... Does it get maintained at all?
The greens were so slow and divot and ball marks all over the greens at each hole ... the layout is nice and a nice playable course for all levels but make those changes ...
Get your golf fix in this municipal public golf course.
Last time I golfed here was a couple of years ago, so, not much has changed since, except with the current pandemic, the entire staff is doing their best in maintaining all the "cleanliness" guidelines that can be enforced. The course itself is in ok shape. Some of the tee boxes were truly beat up. Some sand traps had no rakes to be found. Fairways were fine. Putting greens were either too fast or too slow, so, the overall experience was as expected for a NYC public golf course. A decent golf outing, so, a course worth playing (as all public golf courses, play early or suffer the consequences).
First time
I love NYC golf, but I can’t stand people who don’t fix their divots one the green. This place really could be a great little track but the greens pay the price for golfers who don’t follow rules. Keep up the good fight Forest Park
