Greens
The greens need to be repaired. Other players never pick up the dents they put in the green or if they see any other after they are done with the hole.
Well Maintained
Course is in great shape and every time I play the beverage cart is roaming about. They could use a ranger or a better starter to help pace the course as it can get really backed up.
It’s a NYC course...stop complaining
If you tee off any time from 9am-3pm on a weekend your gonna be playing a 6+ hr round no matter the course...stop complaining you stuck up cry babies...it’s NYC. The course does need some tree trimming on some holes and the sun light doesn’t get to some tee boxes making the grass not grow but other then that it’s maintained well for what they have to work with. Golfers, fix your marks on the greens and they will be kept better, don’t take extra shots and look for lost balls for 5 minutes when you have players waiting and act like you want to be treated and you will have a fun round. You get what you put in.
No value
Course was cramped on nearly every hole by both the amount of people on the course as well as how close all of the holes are together. Balls flying everywhere so always need to be on high alert, and tough to keep an eye on your ball because of all of the golfers in the proximity. There were lost balls all over the place. At $75 a round I definitely won’t be playing here again. I must say, however, all of the staff was very nice and the refreshment cart came around regularly!
Unusually long round
I’ve played here many times previously, today was marred by a slowdown-to-a-stop on both the 3rd and 4th holes. It ended up adding 45 minutes to our round. My playing partner and I both called the pro shop to tell them to get a ranger out ahead of us to get the slow players moving, and they did, by the 6th hole, pace of play evened out, but it should never be that bad. The staff has to make a point of moving play along, a round like today would stop me from coming back if it were my first time there.
Guys...it’s time to trim the trees.
It’s out of control out there - it’s time to trim the trees on 5 (tee box), 6 (green), 14 (tee box), 16 (tee box), 18 (fairway).
There’s no excuse for a course like Forest Park to have such tight holes to hit tee shots out of. For 54 dollars a round, you can do much better.
Keep your ball in front of you
Keep your ball in front of you
Forest park is a very unique golf course
It Dear you to hook or to slice your ball
But if you keep your ball in front of you it’s very playable Forest park it’s very tranquil in when the course is not too crowded and if you have good timing you can finish in on the four hours is your teatime careful he timing is everything Forest park Great test for the average golfer my best score 74
July 17, 2019 have fun
Forest Park GC - Home of the 6 hour round!
Forest Park GC - Home of the 6 hour round!
No water on the course, and no rangers to be found. Yep - sounds like NYC golf to me. Pathetic.
Great conditions for a busy course
Played Forest Park many times. Played early Friday morning so I avoided the infamous slow play for whatits known for. Tee boxes were a little beaten up but normal for NYC course. Fairways/greens was in the best shape i ever seen them. A pleasant round enjoyed on a conveniently located track. Staff was friendly
6 and 1/2 Hour Round
The headline says it all. Stay away unless you want to constantly sit on tee boxes waiting for 3-4 foursomes to tee off ahead of you on every hole! I enjoyed catching up with my buddies but we could have played another course, sat down for an hour long lunch and still have finished before we did at this course.
Too Many People
It was a perfect golf weather and i had a good time. I live in Forest Hills so this was very close. The course was short and very tight. You have to watch your surrounding to make sure you people are not hitting into you or you don’t hit others. We had to wait on every holes and the round took almost 6 hours. Considering this is New York and perfect day in June, I cannot complain.
Slow Pace of Play Yet Relaxing Round
I was skeptical with course conditions however pleasantly surprised that it is generally well maintained except for a few tee boxes with wild flowers, course conditions are great. The front nine is tight and could be dangerous on some holes as errant balls find their way on other fairways, as fairways are so close to each other. The back nine, fairways are much wider. Greens were slow and sticky. Undulating fairways and greens pose some challenge. Although slow pace of play, no rangers to move slow groups along, especially in the front nine, the beautiful forest surroundings make for a peaceful and enjoyable round.
Dangerous course
I would avoid this course and do not plan on playing it again. First of all the parking situation is horrible. Moving on from there check in was easy. Staff was friendly, but the next problem is they do not adhere to tee times. We were getting situated before our tee time and a tee time behind us went down to the started so he decided he would put them out before us. They were a twosome so I didn't complain as We may have let them play through depending on if there was an opening for them and their games allowed. Before they teed off they were paired up with two singles the walked up so now a complete foursome with 3 carts slipped up infrint of us for no reason. Strike 2! To make matters worse the first two some was not good and they were completely slowing down the pace for play for everyone. At no point I. Time did a ranger come around to assist either. Then as we played the course was terribly designed. Too many tee boxes are way too close to other greens. I'm not talking about once in a while an errand shot may land on your tee box. I'm talking about there is a good chance even a good player will land on your tee box type close. After all of that I will not be returning as I have never felt less safe on a good course in my life.
Best condition I’ve ever seen
Played this course for about 5 years now. I’ve played it twice in the month of May 2019. It’s the best conditions I’ve ever seen on the course. That being said there are still some really ugly tee boxes, a few fairways that don’t drain well, and a couple greens that have never had a ball mark fixed on them. We managed to play 18 with a foursome in just over 4 hours, which is the absolute fastest I’ve played an 18 at this course. We only accomplished this because the course was empty from threat of rain and it was the middle of the week.
Affordable and close to the city
This course is tight in some spots, making it dangerous with errant shots. The staff is friendly and course is worth the price!
