I noticed the snow in Ron's question. Up north a lot of the courses, even private courses have extremely hard lies in bunkers, not fluffy, ever! Do you still open the face or try to dig under the ball when it is 70% sand and 30% dirt? Your Florida sand, which I play in the winter, is nothing like what we play in up north!

Great piece of instruction from Rory. Lee Trevino gave one of the best pieces of advice for hard pan bunker shots. Use a club like a gap wedge that has no bounce. If you are not precise with your strike, then using a club with bounce may cause you to blade the ball. Something like a gap wedge gives you a little more room for error in hard pan lies.
