The rough was rough
One temporary green looks like it will never recover. The course was in decent condition - fairways where good greens were good but the rough was ridicules.
River Bend Nice!
Everyone is always courteous at the pro shop ! River Bend is a NewBern treasure!
Average at best
Greeted by Twila who was terrific. We loaded clubs and began play. Hardly anyone else on the course so pace of play was great. Greens were really slow and a couple were bare in spots. Biggest problem was the rough which was so long we actually couldn’t see the ball unless we were standing right on top of it. Made for a really frustrating round and we probably will not return unless the rough has been cut to normal length.
Worst conditions ever
The worst condition I’ve ever seen in. Greens are none existent. The ground keeps need to be fired! The owner is clearly does not need to own a golf course yet alone three. All three are the worst courses in eastern North Carolina.
Great staff
The course has come a long way, the greens are still a work in progress, but great improvement. The lady at the front was amazing, I was by myself and able to get out early and had a great time! Thank you!
Good layout. Course needs improvement.

Great place to play
I absolutely love this course. The layout for me is
challenging enough as I am a mid range golfer.
Every time I play here I enjoy it more. The staff in the club house are very friendly as are the dining area staff.
Excellent place to play…
This Course was worth the money going through Golf Now.
Course conditions were great, one temp green on a par 3, other greens were in excellent condition. Plenty of grass on fairways and well kept, Really enjoyed it but with this weather needed a cart girl or more water access on course, BYOW

Travesty
I travel for work and try to play somewhere new when i get the opportunity. The photos and reviews looked promising when I found the course through golf now. The staff where nice and the carts where a high quality. And that is where it goes down hill…..the course conditions. The greens are unplayable. Dead spots, burnt to a crisp, or just bare dirt. It was even so bad on hole 6 they have closed that green entirely and placed a flag and cup in the middle of the fairway. After 9 holes I wrapped it up and left after paying full price for 18. The round was not enjoyable.
East Carolina Golf life
The course is in good shape staff is always friendly it’s definitely a great place to play golf in East Carolina!
Riverbend
Have seen it in better shape, but it’s still great value for money. The warm weather is not good for the greens.
Decent place
Greens have been punched course might be a little rough around the edges. I like playing there because it’s not crowded. Ladies in the pro shop are really pleasant. Layout is fun. For the price good place to go play. Please put holes in the putting green , I personally don’t like the flags with no cups . Overall , it’s a good experience.
River Bend
The green were recently aerated so it was 2 putt and pick up. Overall though, the course was is good condition.
Great course
Love this course, I play as often as I can here. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
