The Emerald Golf Club

The course is in excellent condition. The course has a reputation for slow play although this was not the case yesterday and we finished our round in 3.5 hours. Previous two visits those rounds were both 5+ hours Due to 5 people being let out in a group.

I recently moved to the state and live about an hour away from this course. Since I was curious about it, I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff at the pro shop and the young lady working at the snack shop.

I usually play from the blue stakes, but I was paired with an older gentleman who was playing from the whites. I thought, “Why not?” and played from the whites, which turned out to be a great decision. It made for a fun and enjoyable round of golf.

I was glad to have Jim as my partner. He was knowledgeable about the course layout and could advise me on where to aim to avoid water hazards on certain holes. For example, on hole nine, I didn’t know that water would be all the way across in front of the green. Jim suggested that I switch to a different club to land short of the water.

I HIGHLY recommend this course if you’re in the area or live an hour away like I do. I plan to play it again with Jim in the near future, as well as some other courses he recommended.

This is a very nice course. Not long and not much trouble to get into. Greens and fairways were in great shape. I found myself putting from around the greens instead of chipping due to very tight lies.Greens were fairly fast but not outrageously so. I would certainly play this course again.

Course is in fantastic shape. Lots of improvements midway. Was impressed with staff friendliness and loved the course layout.

Cart path only, which is understandable due to some wet areas. Problem is, on some holes there were mounds between the path and the fairway. This was a problem trying to drive to your ball after a shot because you couldn’t see the fairway. Same problem trying to locate some tee boxes, you couldn’t see them from the cart path.

One of the best values for a round I have ever played. I was fortunate to get out as a solo as the first tee time of the day, thanks to an incredibly hospitable pro shop staff and starter. Considering most of eastern NC is in the midst of a significant drought, the course conditions were phenomenal. I’m not in New Bern often, but this is a course I will play again when I am back.

Well cared for course and practice facilities. Have played there several times and enjoy this as one of the favorites in the area
