Fairways are in decent shape and the entire Cart Path is new concrete BUT the GREENS ARE UNFORTUNATELY IN HORRIBLE SHAPE. I haven't played North green in a couple of years and it will be at least a year before I would go back cause the greens will take at least that long, it's honestly impossible to put on them the way they are currently. You can practice your tee shots and approach shots with irons but just go pick your ball up once you're on the green and leave your putter at home !!

Someone with money could make a very nice course. Until then it needs to be closed.

This course is in the city that I live in and I know it’s been undergoing renovations so for the last several years I’ve gone to play it at least once a year just to put my eyes on it and see how the improvements are going. I play at a different course two or three times a week and I travel to maybe 20 different courses over the course of each year. So here’s my annual thoughts on the renovations at North Green and I hope this helps somebody. Bottom line it is still not a golf course. Last year, all of the cart paths were repaved, and they are still in great shape. There is renovation work being done on the pool and they are installing nice looking tennis and Pickleball courts, but it is still not a golf course. There is no grass in the fairways. Most of you reading this have more grass cover in your front yard than the fairways do. They are mostly bare spots and you’re hitting out of dry hard pan dirt lies.That’s gonna be a big job because it’s gonna take seeding and proper care and watering. Watering may be a problem. While we were playing there were two sprinklers running on the greens of number 1 and number 12. It was obvious by the pattern of those sprinklers that they were not functioning properly and so that may be a problem all across the course, I hope they can get the sprinkler system operating properly. The greens are nonexistent. They are almost completely covered in sand and very patchy grass some of them most notably number 13 actually has a giant hole in it. There are some areas of the course that you can see some sod has been laid, in the fairway number of 14 ,and there is ground under repair, a covered up ditch on number five, So there is evidence that work is being done. But today it is still not a golf course. In a couple of years there’s potential so I hope the work continues.

The short story is this course needs a lot of work. All grass is terrible, and it ruins the play experience. There was signs they are trying to improve the course, hence the clubhouse construction and new carts. But the additional new touches don’t help when you’re playing on the course. Terrible grass, terrible sand, and terrible landscaping overall. Likely won’t return until major changes are made. Price wasn’t bad but unless you absolutely are only going off of price, I’d rather be at a mini golf course.

Greens were awful. Fairways were ok. For the price it wasn’t horrible: the layout was okay, nothing too special. I can see they are trying to fix up the course, could be better in the future. Greens definitely need the most work.

I am proud of the fact that the new owner is INVESTING in the course. We're talking about a course that was the host of MAJOR college championships in previous years. Im excited to see the restoration! It's already underway!

This has the potential of being a hidden gem. I’ve watched it develop over the last couple of months and what an amazing job!

All Greens terrible shape, fairways not cut, bunkers haven’t seen a rake all year.

Looks to be remodeling. I would wait until course is finished remodeling. I guess this is why course is so cheap.

First time I played on this course I aborted at hole 8 because the fairway grass was tall & extremely difficult to find the golf ball. Lost 3 then. One hole (4?) had brown grass & no mark that it was for a red tee.

Second time, Aug. 3rd, I'd only done 4 holes & decided to abort again. Lost 5 balls. I do not want to waste time searching for balls.

The cart path great, but crossing on traffic streets (cars speed are unpredictable) multiple times is not safe at all, it's a risk that a player has to take when crossing.

Overall "NOT" worth the rate I paid twice. The tee areas& the greens are very poorly maintained. Scratched this course off my list.

I’m new to the area from the Piedmont area and can see the potential in what is happening here. Keep up with your improvement and you’ll be fine.

Tried out the course while in the area. Course was probably in the worst condition I’ve ever seen for a course that was open for business. Greens were terrible and impossible to putt. Fairways weren’t even fairways. I hope they get it back in shape for the members and others wanting to play. The layout has potential to be a quality place to play. Appears a ton of money was dumped into cart paths instead of the grass the game is played on. The sod hasn’t been watered and is completely dead.

If you’re looking for an affordable place to play, it’s a good choice. The green were not the best but after I talked to the owner she explained they just acquired the course a little over a year ago and they working on improving the course. I will be back , the staff was great and the pace of play was great. I’m interested to see how it improves over the next couple years.

This course has improved significantly compared to last year, and I expect it will continue to get better. The cart paths are now top-notch since they were redone. However, there's still room for improvement in the maintenance of the fairways, rough, and greens. I’ll always support this course since it’s home for me. If it continues progressing at the pace it has over the past six months, it’s well on its way to regaining its reputation as a premier course in Rocky Mount, NC.
