River Oaks Golf Club

What can you say? This course is beautiful! It is situated in a little valley, the front nine is undulating and rolling in the hills while the back nine takes you down into the bottom of the valley and you traverse a large creek on multiple holes. It's difficult but not impossible, has incredible diversity, and requires creativity and good course management to navigate effectively. The course itself was in immaculate condition. The greens were smooth and fast with perfectly defined fringe lines and crisp-cut holes. It was pretty much tournament level quality. The fairways were excellent and even the rough was thick and lush. Very few bare spots and it all looked healthy and pure. I've never seen a public course look this good for this sort of price point. Only $55 for a full 18 with a cart for a course that would easily cost $100 or more in most major cities. The only possible knock on this otherwise perfect experience would be the pin placements. There were a few that were on the side of slopes that you couldn't hold at all. You'd put uphill and then if you missed, the ball was rolling back down to you at least 8 feet away. It made for a challenging day. But it was pure and incredible. I wish every public course took a note from River Oaks.

What an absolute gem. From the blues…. Tight course, lots of OB close to fairways with fast greens. Long par 3s. Would definitely recommend for shot makers. It’s quite the treat course once in awhile. GPS on the carts was a little deceiving….the speaker on the golf cart was a nice touch. Driving range was mat only.

Truly loved this course. I believe it was the best course for the money I have played in several years. Staff was very friendly. I played a MON afternoon, and I never saw anyone in front or behind me playing. I will definitley play again.

The new owners at River Oaks have done a fabulous job in getting this track in the shape it is. I talked to many players that played the golf course in prior years that described it as a goat track with two many trees and very hilly. The reputation kept me from playing until this past weekend. A friend of mine joined the club and raved at the changes that have been made. Well it remains hilly and a very challenging layout, The greens were in perfect condition and rolled pure, but just try to stay below the hole. The terrain is challenging and carries need to be precise to get to the correct location on the greens. It's a track that I will certainly try a few more times to learn the layout as it was a lot of fun the first go around.

Hmmmm , 5 Perfect 5 star ratings all on the same day, from new users, and with no details… somebody is monkeying with the course ratings! Golfpass ratings now has river oaks rated 4 point higher ‘than the nicest high-end country club within 80 miles’ that should also show that something is not on the Up & Up.

Conditions at River Oaks continue to improve, and yes the course is in great shape, but on no planet should it be rated equal to, let alone higher, than the near perfection found at Rock Barn Country Club or Verdict Ridge. However, should users be comparing River Oaks to say Twin Oaks, Lakewood or Brushy Mountain it should come out on top. Not knocking the course, just the manipulated ratings.

Overall expectations good! All tee boxes are always good except number 8 probably due to rain runoff, only downside I would say is 7.00 for a very small range bucket and seems like most of the time lately the tablet on the carts dont work

Fairways and greens are in great shape. Greens roll true but are tricky. Staff is awesome. We play here every 2-3 months and it never disappoints. No facilities on the course which is the ONLY downside (for my wife) on this course. Go play here if you are in the area looking for a fun but challenging course.

No water coolers or beverage cart should be criminal! 95 plus and feeling like over 100.. The course is wonderful, the conditions are top notch.. When your course gets to this level of good the little things make you great!!! Starters and Marshalls that patrol and provide water is next level. Other courses can and do.

First time here. Lots of hills. Course maintained really well. Very fair if you keep it straight, but if not the penalties are severe. Love the greens. The last hole 18 is the highlight with two creeks to conquer. Love it.

Overall great place to play 18 holes. Was a nice course, great challenges and all around fun place. The only issue we seen was no bathrooms other than the club house, and no cart girl to sale cold beverages on hot days. We had a group in front of us that was hitting multiple shots off the tee boxes and re putting so they slowed down pace of play a good bit but other than those few things we will play there again for sure

First time at the course, a good overall experience.

Course was in good shape, I was impressed by the condition of the greens.

Pace of play was slow, there was a five some ahead of us ( some clubs don’t allow this) but we were a twosome and we play at a good pace.

Interesting layout, with nice vistas across the course. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, refreshment prices in the club house were very reasonable.

We will definitely be back.
