The 500 Club
       About
The 500 Club (formerly known as Fox Den Country Club and Larkin Golf Club) is a premier entertainment destination for the Lake Norman region. This relaxed club with NASCAR roots provides a laid-back experience, quick pace of play, and plenty of entertainment to make it a destination. World-ranked Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professional offer private and group lessons and clinics. While the course is on the shorter side, the elevation changes and native grass areas make it challenging and strategic. Pace of play is the focus in every round so pick your tees by average driving distance, use the drop zones if needed, and play "Ready Golf" to keep your round moving. Starters, Rangers, and the Pro Shop staff will keep you well informed on any tips that might be useful for the day.

Great Twilight Tee time
Teed off at 4:10 with 3 of my friends and had a great time. Course was great and the restaurant there is great. Was glad to get all 18 hikes in before carts had to go in.
Also loved the small touches of nascar theming as well.
Review
Played really difficult in the baking sun of July. Greens were hard, bouncy and super fast / slippery. My score was terrible but the course was beautiful with amazing staff
A nice experience
I played this course when it was Fox Den. I played it when it was Larkin. And I’ve played it a few times as the 500 Club. The new owners have really tried to make this a fun experience. The course was in great shape.
PROS: Fairways and greens were excellent. Layout has a good mix of challenging holes and somewhat easy holes. A few short par 4’s and a few challenging par 5’s. Some interesting par 3’s. The staff was very friendly and seemed to go out of their way to make this a good experience. They seem to be trying to make the area outside the clubhouse a nice gathering area to hang out. Several corn hole setups were available, a ping pong table. Outdoor TV. A golf simulator. The putting green is huge! Lots of undulations. Hard to find a flat spot. It is a little unrealistic since the greens do not have huge undulations but it is still a nice way to practice putting and even set up a mini putting challenge with your friends.
CONS: They do not have a “real” driving range. You hit balls into a net inside an open ended (3-sided) practice area. For me, that was good enough. I just need a handful of swings to warm up. If you are going there to work on your game and check out fades and draws with your swing, it might not be for you. But you can probably use the simulator to do that - I’m not 100% sure though…
Overall, it was a nice experience.
Beware of the Storm Policy
I’ve played over 30+ courses in NC ranging from Caledonia, to this course. I’ve never been told to stop playing golf because a storm was nearby. We didn’t get any rain at all, but because there was a cloud within 10 miles of the golf course we had to stop playing and wait for a “30 minute timer” to even have a chance to get back and finish our round. The design of the course was outstanding, the conditions were great; however, I’m not pleased that I drove an hour to try this course and was given a rain check for HALF the amount of the round and it wasn’t even raining. For anyone considering this course, make sure it’s a 0% of rain unless you want to be stopped before any rain “possibly” comes.
Okay course, not impressed
An okay course. Typical residential course. Course conditions were good. Some flat decent holes, some holes carved out of hills not really suited for a golf holes. No consistency in the course. No practice range, just warm up mats and nets in a equipment shed. Not impressed
Not worth the over blown price even on here
No ball washes , no water tanks , so bring plenty of water , KEEP ball in play or you will lose ball , its a drinkers course , great layout, decent shape but they think they are oakmont but saving money on not mowing rough, its 2 ft high , go to rock barn or river oaks are much better for the price
Concerning greens
Warning they are growing the outside rough extremely tall so keep ball in play , only concern is greens are cracking already , they never plugged or rolled the greens this season and definitely can tell, starting to lose a few and definitely can spot every past pin placements, whoever is doing the greens please fire. Miss the pure roll when it was larkin never seen the greens in bad shape , also 500 thinks they are a rock barn lol and no where close talk to several ppl that agree not worth the price , still not even a simple ball washer out there 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Playing renovated 500 Club.
First time playing here since it switched over to the 500 Club. Kudos to the club in every aspect. Great pro shop, super staff, amazing course. I loved the course before and it is even better now. Excellent from tee to green. Great job to everyone.
Great experience
Great experience from bag drop, check in, course condition and staff….highly recommend.
Michigan Golfer
Very good course
Suggestions practice Tee could use a little more leveling
Maintenance needed.....disappointing
I've played this course many times and I've never seen it look so poorly maintained.....especially on a Sunday/Weekend. Most of the front nine greens were covered with unrepaired ball marks and rolled poorly. The fairways had spots of weeds growing. And the grass just off the fairway was over ankle deep in many spots. This course used to be very well maintained. It has fallen off recently and if things aren't addressed soon it could take a toll in the long term.
Overpriced!!!
Great layout , but for their price no golfing amenities, not even a ball washer on course, all par 3s hitting from mats, greens were littered with alot of debris, and pin placements of dead pin spots you'll see a dozen to over 20 every hole, definitely gone downhill since it was larkin , they only care about the bar and restaurant. Wouldn't pay more than 30 for this course, rockbarn , cedarbrook are much better
