Sleepy Hollow Golf Course is the top municipal course in the state and it is also ranked as one of the top 20 in the nation. Overlooking the Cuyahoga River Valley, the course is known for its scenery almost as much as its challenging layout. It has a traditional design with a classic "out-and-in" routing, with the incoming holes playing uphill into the wind, making them seem much longer than the indicated yardage. Golfers might be taken aback by the punishing nature of the golf course. There are 58 bunkers strategically placed around the tough greens, which comprise the main challenges of the course. Get ready to be quickly introduced to the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course's formidability with the lengthy second hole, a par 3 that will test even the longest hitters.

Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville

Very nice course with a beautiful view. Course was in very good shape on the back nine. Front nine was closed for maintenance. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. The only thing to point out is that some of the greens are steeply sloped and fast, so if you’re not an excellent putter, it’s easy to have a birdie putt but walk off with a bogey or worse.

Great Course but…

Sleepy Hollow is an awesome championship golf course. One of the best public courses in NE Ohio. Even the best golfers will have a few more strokes than normal on the card. I always look forward to the first hole, and sending a bomb drive down the hill. Holding a 9 iron or PW for your 2nd shot on a par 5 is always a good feeling.

The greens are always very quick. Most of the time they roll like private clubs greens would. However, sometimes they roll like you’re playing the US Open. Today was one of those days. Greens wont hold shots well, so you are forced to land short and use the slopes. Several greens are heavily sloped toward you. The pins on those were in the very back. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the challenge of some quick greens, but today you could drop a ball on the back edge of some of them and the ball would roll all the way to the front. On 9 I hit one putt from 60 feet below the hole, rolled 3ft from the pin, and the ball rolled right back to my feet at the front. I’m not sure what you call that, but it’s definitely not golf. Practicing downhill putts on the practice green, i found that it was impossible to hit the ball soft enough. Even the most minuscule amount of contact ended up sending the balls all the way down to the edge of the green. I still left with a decent score, but felt robbed of strokes by several greens. Good shots should be rewarded. The game is hard enough as it is.

So slow

9 holes of golf should never take almost 3.5 hrs to complete.
