About
Papago Golf Course is conveniently situated just a few minutes from downtown Phoenix though you would never be able to tell with the peace and seclusion provided by the course's location in Papago Park. The golf course sits at the base of Papago Buttes, past the rugged red rocks you can see Phoenix skyline. The course was designed by William Francis Bell, whom you may know for Torrey Pines in San Diego. The challenging layout features undulating greens framed with strategically placed bunkers and subtle but tricky mounding. Water hazards appear on a few holes as well. It's a tough but straightforward layout that is still playable for a range of skill levels. Since opening in 1963, Papago has hosted numerous events including the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship and Phoenix Open Qualifying.

Really good and not typical Scottsdale price
Really nice but playable and enjoyable and in didn,t require us to remortgage like all the other Scottsdale courses do.
Great Course
Always enjoy playing the course. Pace of play was outstanding at less that 4 hours for a foursome. Course was is great shape.
Need to Marshall better!
We had a family (assume) of six playing ahead of us at 12:50pm on Sunday afternoon. We had to wait on every shot! Called the pro shop on hole five to complain but we never saw one. Pro Shop said there was “supposed” to be a Marshall on the course.
Papa-No-Go
Nice design but in terrible condition for fairways and fringe areas. Surrounding area around the golf course is very industrial and has lots of construction. Greens were good. Bunkers are in good shape (only in one).
Would never go back. There are Muni’s in better shape.
Complicated layout but great overall
The course has a weird layout just honestly needs some more signage in my opinion. First time golfing it conditions were really good for February. Views from the course are great as well.
slow round. all except one par3s 200+ yards and unfavorable to most players. overload of dirt

Course was in good shape. Staff was nice. What else do you want?
Papago Was Perfect
Papago has it all from a great range, excellent layout and wonderful people. I love the views and it’s a perfect setting for a drink after your round. Greens had been punched and sanded about a week earlier so they were a bit slow. Overall I love this course.
