Forty-Niner Country Club
About
Situated between the Catalina and Rincon Mountains, Forty Niner Country Club runs alongside a wooded riverbed. The golf course features fairways lined with mesquites, giant cottonwoods, eucalyptus trees, and weeping willows. Desert shrubbery also lines the fairways. The course has a traditional layout that sprawls across gently rolling terrain. It's a nice walkable golf course but it's not easy. Rather than distance, this course requires accurate shot placement and careful strategy in order to maneuver the tricky doglegs and subtly elevated greens. The most difficult hole on the course comes early on. The par-4 fifth is an only seemingly narrow hole but the double-tiered green has a dramatic slope right in the center. Forty Niner Country Club finishes with a par 3 that requires a carry over water. If played smartly, it offers a great birdie opportunity.

improved
we had not played here in 3 years, the course condition has been improved and we noted many new homes along the first few holes on the back nine. I thought the greens were pretty bare and it was very slow on the back nine, but a good value for the money
Great Value
I’m a less than a year in golfer. Still working on everything. I got in for like 40+ bucks at 10:15 am in early April. Great really enjoyed the course. Some of these reviews are trashing the greens and fairways gtfo it’s fine. Lots of dog leg lefts so if you slice get ready player. People are saying it’s narrow it is but it’s not crazy. Even if you can bomb you have to play this with some strategy. You have to lay up and shoot down on some of these. The bunkers are mostly harder sand so it’s easier to pick it clean up and out. Anyway if you can get through the traffic on Grant and construction it’s totally worth it.
Perfect day for golf. Fourty Niners is a beautiful golf facility. Peaceful with many mature shade trees!
Everyone is very friendly
Staff are golden
Fast friendly and courteous staff.
She shining star is Sam who works the beverage cart. Is rare to find someone so efficient and professional but also personable.
All staff we great but Sam stood out
Fun Course
The course is fun and challenging. Narrow fairways, rolling grounds to make shot placement important. The staff is nearly always extremely helpful. Kenny is a legend at getting people off timely. Sam is the best courtesy/beverage cart person I have had the pleasure of doing business with. Very personable while remaining professional. What a star. The one this this course could use is an on course marshall to keep the pace of play up and to break up 5-somes.
My home course
Played with some great friends, play the best round I’ve ever had there.
Course conditions seemed below average for courses in this area at time of play. Greens looked like they were struggling. I understood this to be a nice course, so maybe I went at a bad time. Biggest gripe would be the greens. Layout, staff, amenities all above average.
