Good times
Dell Urich is in pretty good shape right now. Fairways are nice and fluffy, but if you’re draw/cut doesn’t work out and you’re off the fairway, it’s pretty dormant. Greens are rolling well, so that’s a plus.
A fun day
The course is prepping for overseed so we saw drier fairways and shaggy greens. I am sure they will be scalping the course soon. It’s always worth to play this course
Late summer blues
I almost always love playing del Urich, but the current conditions are marginal at best. Many fairways gone, bunkers hard as a rock which is understandable because of no rakes, greens were grainy and slow which is normally OK but they were tracked up by players not fixing ball marks or cleat marks. Can't wait till they overseed for the Winter so we can get it back into reasonable shape.
Avoid For Now
I played on Sunday April 5. It was horrendous! Way too much pressure, with beginners, in foursomes, crawling the course. Walkers all over including one family who each carried two clubs, total, whacking their way down the course. Each T box had a 15-20 minute back up as beginners hacked their way down the course. I overheard the starter telling someone to get "ready for the worse day of your life." I should have taken a rain check. On Urich #1 a foursome of snowbirds stopped to use the restroom and water up. I staged behind another foursome of snowbirds with walkers. Right when it was time to T off the original foursome drove right around me, their women waddled out of the cart and set up right in front of me. No etiquette at all...zero. I literally drove away and just looked for open holes around both courses to try and get in 18 holes. Never did. I got in 14 holes in almost 5 hours. The management needs to set up either days/hours for walkers, or set T times up with 20 minutes of separation. The place is a mess right now. My suggestion; avoid it until snowbirds go home. Even then, as a city course, it attracts beginners who choose to learn on the course rather than the range. Shanking from one side to the other. The players don't know the meaning of "ready golf" and about the time some pace is established the drink cart rolls up and kills it.
I will say they keep the course nice although fairways are hard as a brick so a divot requires breaking a wrist. Workers are always nice and they are keeping carts sterilized.
Good course
A very well laid out course that is challenging and fun to play.. I highly recommended the course
Need A Ranger
We got sent out after a group that was interminably slow, and there was no Ranger to push them along. Took 2 hrs and 45 minutes to play 9 holes. Thank God two of them dropped out after nine and we were able to play the back nine in 2:00...
seen better days
A once great course has seen better days, it’s obvious there is little to no money coming into this course from the city. It’s too bad as this course has potential to be so much better!
No rain
Lack of rain ☔ is playing havok on our fairways. Nothing we can do about it
