About
Bartow Golf Course is a municipal course that offers an affordable yet challenging round. The course has a classic design with an interesting mix of holes that range from being wide open to narrow and tree lined. The postage-stamp-sized greens demand accuracy and there are also a few strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. Build up your score on the front nine before tackling the tougher back nine. The golf course has enough challenges to keep more advanced players satisfied but it's forgiving enough to appeal to beginners as well. One of the most memorable holes is the par-3 13th. There is a tree that stands right in the middle of the fairway, forcing you to either go over or try to get around and risk going in the sand trap.

Greens recently punched.. hitting mats on range
Was first disappointed to find the range had mats only. The range balls were all extremely worn out, many of them had cracks or small cuts.
The course layout is pretty basic, some holes with doglegs but most are pretty straight on. Greens were on the small side and had recently been punched. They rolled terribly, very bumpy. Bunkers were in nice shape and the tee boxes were good. There is a minimal amount if cart paths and the ride can get pretty rowdy once off them.
Course was quite busy on a Monday morning, its a low budget course and you get what you pay for. I would say its a good value overall and worth going to check it out for yourself.
Great value!
Great course for the $. But be prepared for a slow pace on the weekends! Overall a nice cheaper course! The bar/clubhouse has surprisingly great food and nice prices!!! Staff is friendly!
Always great
It's been 10 plus years since I played here due to work conflicts. When I played the other day I was reminded of how much I love this course. Greens and fairways are well maintained and I love the added video assistant on the golf cart. Now thatI'm retired I will definitely be playing here more often.
Course was in decent shape, pretty crowded
While we kept ahead of pace according to the cart there was a lot of waiting and people hitting into us when we had nowhere to go. Little overbooked and frustrating when its 100+ outside but all in all a good time.
Golf time
Good course, good price but to bad getting behind slow players . Will have to change to other T. times, that’s all
Great Course For The Price.....But....
Played this course several times. This last time fairways and greens are in good to excellent shape. Green are HARD AS A ROCK and somewhat fast. Also, there are no flat greens on this course. Everyone of them slopes off in one direction or another. Almost impossible to hold greens with an approach shot unless your hit short and roll them up. One complaint is hole two which is a dog leg left. You have a tree on the left. You MUST make sure you can hit over the tree and land on the left side of fairway to have a clear approach shot. If you hit right you run the risk of hitting thru the fairway and into a bunch of trees with not chance of a clean shot to the green. Even if you land in the fairway to the right there is a huge tree you have to hit over to get to the green. In my opinion this tree needs to be trimmed. You should not be penalized for landing in the fairway with no clear shot to the green. One last thing is it's time for new range balls. These are well past time to be replaced.
Enjoyable
The course is in good condition. Greens run true and fast to my liking. Fairways the grass needs to grow. Ball doesn’t sit up at all. All in all course was fun and good.
Nice track
Arrived at the the end of an outing they were having but teed off at out tee time. Tee boxes were in average condition, fairways were green & in good condition especially considering the drought. The greens were smooth & true and were pretty fast. They also have a lot of break in most putts which makes them difficult. At least I found them difficult! The lay out was interesting. Several dog legs & ponds. The sand traps were a little rough. Pace of play was slow but it was a Saturday & they had a crowd. 4:45 round made it a little less enjoyable

Course was in very good condition. Greens were awesome. Staff was professional and courteous as always. Great value for the costs.
It's A Donald Ross Course!
I am a traditionalist fan. Bartow and Ross are my favorites. So when you can play a true Ross Course it's a joy. Yes, the fairways are thin and the tee boxes aren't CC pretty. And here is the gem: the greens are incredible, are truly Ross configured and unchanged! They have been impeccably maintained. Oh, they are very fast. Let me repeat! VERY FAST. You are going to thoroughly enjoy watching your ball roll and roll and roll and roll....... I could play this course every day and be happy. So all you golf snobs. Stay away. Unless your brave enough to take on these greens.
BTW, the staff are all friendly, helpfull, and truly welcoming.
Turtleback Greens
I couldn't make my putts until the last 5 holes. I was able to par all 5 to finish. If you got too aggressive, your ball may just go past and off of the green!
