Very interesting layout
Very enjoyable days golf. Staff Friendly helpful welcome. The course has some very interesting par 4 dog Legs left and right. Greens fast and in excellent condition. Brilliant par 5s. Position is key off tees but forgiving. Beautiful course overall. Pace of play little slow but still nice to catch a breather.
Nice but overrated
Pace of play was atrocious.
Noise from the airport is very annoying. It is not a peaceful golf course.
Tee boxes were average with a few very bad (holes in the ground for some of them).
Course layout is very tight. Par 3 holes are very short and not great.
Greens are lightning quick but well kept.
Fairways are well kept.
Rough well kept.
Clubhouse closed early on Saturday evening which is disappointing for a “country club”.
Overall it’s a decent parkland course but would be hesitant to recommend given the price point vs experience. 3.5 out of 5
Very enjoyable game of Golf
It had been a few years since I played St Margaret's and I was very impressed with all aspects of the course today. Tee Boxes, Fairways & Greens were excellent. A really pleasent challenge. Highly recommend a visit
Challenging but fair
Very nice parkland course. Fairways are a bit tight and the greens were well manicured and proper speed to make it a challenging round. I'll be back. 👍👍
Top class
Played this course for the 1st time having booked through golf now. The course was in fantastic condition, some brilliant feature holes.
Had food after and it was really tasty, staff were all very friendly. I will definitely play it again.
Add to your Irish golf tour!
Great condition course and well worth the stop on the Ireland golf tour.
Quite Long, with position off tee essential for good scoring
Feeling hot, hot, hot: 28°C in Dublin, not a cloud in the sky and a light breeze.
Tees were well maintained, but unlike most courses in USA, limited in options. Black, blue, white and red. The whites play about 6400 yards. Yes, the fairways are mainly reachable off the tee, but it does leave long shots to the greens.
Wide inviting fairways provide a calming vista from most tees, but don’t be fooled. Many greens are positioned left or right of centre, protected by a strategically positioned tree or two, so getting your tee shot on the correct side of the fairway really helps.
The rough was well manicured with the semi cut in about 3 yards and enough to stop the ball quickly. The rough has been carefully cut to about ball high. Easy enough to find, but difficult enough to get great distance from.
Large, flattish bunkers are dotted around to capture an errant approach, but not to the extent, that they fill you with dread.
Putting surfaces are contoured and sweeping. Many are quite flat, but there are a few, with slopes that’ll grab your attention!
The par 3s although short, demand accurate shots, with many hazards surrounding them including a stream.
The Par 5 8th has to be the feature hole. Tee set to the right with a carry over water getting ever further as you go to the left, but that’s the risk, reward you are faced with. The fairway then doglegs back to the right. If you think you played that tee shot well, you’re about to face an even bigger challenge. The second shot sounds easy, as it’s all about getting into the best position for your next shot.
You’ll need to carry another large pond of about 100yds wide that protects the raised green. There is a layup area over to the right, but trying to hit that from way back is protected by a stream and large tree. The Pro told me to “club up”, as there’s little trouble behind the green.
All in all, a wonderful challenge, rounded off by a great pint of Guinness of the spacious bar overlooking the 18th green.
Great course
Played an early round on a Tuesday morning...course layout is great there's some fantastic holes and the fairways and greens were in great condition, even the bunkers were nice and fluffy. For €40 it's probably the best value for money course in Dublin. Highly recommend
