Shalimar Pointe Golf Club
About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

FL Panhandle Golf
This time out it was very humid. Summer is here, not so much the heat but the humidity. Bring extra gloves to swap out and “Towelie”. Course was good, fairways are nice and green, but if you stray off the fairways, may be difficult to recover. Greens were slightly bumpy but still nice. Uphill putts were slow.
Still had a great time.
Great course and Jeff the staff guy was awesome
The greens were in great shape and held true to line when putting fairways were decent and the only down side that I seen was a couple of tee boxes that were not flat besides that it was a awesome lay out

Potential to be a Gem
I was greeted kindly by staff, course was wide open when I arrived. Immediately disappointed by the fact that I couldn’t hit Driver or Woods on the driving range.. only because I had just cut down my driver and 3-wood.
Bottom line- the layout of this track is awesome. It has some holes where decision making is key. It has some holes where you can let it rip.
But the condition of the course was frustrating at times. Many overgrown spots on the fairways. Then some were like hitting off concrete. The greens were not consistent in speed. If they cleaned the course up, and put some extra time into the rough edges, this place would be an absolute gem of a track. Worth the $50 or so I paid to play. I may be back at some point but I think paying another $20-$30 to play a much better manicured course is the play for me next round.
Fun Golf Round; Rate Reasonable
The course conditions were very acceptable. Yes, there were a few thin areas on the putting surface, and a few thin/bare/sandy spots on the fairways. Aprons/fringe around the greens were in very good condition. Overall, I'd recommend this course to anyone looking for a fun track without having to spend a lot of money. The layout is interesting and the course overall challenging. The greens have lots of character, but do roll a bit on the bumpy side. Pay attention to the grain to manage the break, and in particular, if you're putting against the grain and uphill, give it extra!
Very Nice
It had been a while since I played at Shalimar Pointe. The course was in much better shape than last time. Very enjoyable.
Great Layout! Rough Greens!
I really loved the layout of Shalimar Pointe. I took my 4 year old son out to play with me and he had a great time.
The pace of play wasn’t too bad. We had a quick front 9 and then got stuck behind a group of 4 on the back that wouldn’t let us play through.
The layout was a ton of fun and there were a lot of fun holes with different risk/reward quirks. The greens however were nearly unplayable. I don’t think I’ve ever played on slower, fuzzier greens than these. Hope they get that sorted quickly because the rest of the course was a lot of fun.
Beginning Golfer
Had a great time here, played 18 solo on vacation for a really solid price of $47. Greens were solid with some rough areas on some holes.
This course is not Augusta, Some reviews here act surprised when they realized that. When we first arrived we were met with excellent service from the pro shop staff. The carts were in good condition with range balls free for every person. The course overall is in great condition considering the lack of rain in the previous weeks. Fairways are in good shape with only a few bare spots here and there and avoid the rough if you can as they are a little beat up. Greens were a little long and some better than others but for a course you can play at a hot deal for less than $50 a person it was perfect. Pace of play was great as we finished 18 holes in under 4 hours. Like mentioned this isn’t Augusta, but if your looking for an easy course that’s worth the money this is definitely the course, and I would highly recommend to play again.
An average course at best
I returned to Shalimar after a four year absence (I visit my sister every several years). I found tbe course to be average at best. The fairways were not in good shape, with crap grass evident sporadically. The grees were fairly good, but so e had bare spots, unusual for this time of year. My home course in Virginia, a local medium priced course, is in much better shape, well groomed fairways with well maintained greens. I will not be returning to Shalimar anytime soon.
Played as a 4some in a little over 4 hours. I booked a hot deal a few days before. Paid about $47pp and was disappointed with the course conditions. Most teeboxes are very bad, sandy and sloped. Many greens had some bare spots, some more than others. The course is playable, but nothing special.
FL Panhandle Springtime Golf
Excellent course conditions. The greens were very fast and full. The fairways are plush and green. Perfect time of year to play, humidity levels are still low.
Nice course, but needs maintained.
Had a great round at Shalimar, but tee boxes and greens needed LOTS of repair and upkeep. Tee boxes were chewed up by divots, and seemed to only be filled in with sand. Greens were growing weeds and in pretty rough shape, as if not mowed or maintained very often. Would play again at $65 as most other local courses are $120+, but would be much nicer with some TLC. .
Enjoyable round
Good value for the money. Fairways are not perfect, but in pretty good condition. Greens are in very good shape. Pace was very good - less than four hours. Very friendly staff. Will play here again.
Pace of play
Started early on front nine and whizzed through 9 holes in 1.5 hours. Then hit the back nine and starter had sent off several groups on 10 and pace went to stand still. Would play again.
Shalimar is on Pointe
Great deal for Shalimar Pointe GC. I love playing here and the golfers and staff are very friendly.
Nice Round of Golf
Enjoyed our day of golf. Good movement on the course with no waiting. Greens very solid shape.
Great
