About

Formerly home to a turpentine plantation, the site now offers one of the most environmentally sensitive courses in northwest Florida, Kelly Plantation. The golf course sits along the shores of the Choctawhatchee Bay, sprawling across a waterfront landscape of towering trees and swampy bayous. The course features large, contoured greens and wide, manicured fairways that are in excellent condition but can also be tricky to navigate. The strategically placed hazards also require some careful maneuvering. In addition to being a challenging round, the golf course is also known for its stunning scenic appeal. Throughout the layout, golfers can enjoy panoramic views across the bay to the abundant magnolias and palmettos that are native to Florida's northwest region. For these reasons, Kelly Plantation has received high praise from publications such as Golf Digest and Golf Magazine.

Course was in great condition. Staff super friendly. No complaints whatsoever. Played this course twice during our trip, and i still haven’t figured out the greens. If you play the back couple of sets of tees, it’s a pretty good stretch. Would play again no doubt.

Pre- Hurricane

I played it as a solo the day before a hurricane made landfall 10 miles from the course. Staff was excellent, driving range a bit beat up. The course was in great shape but greens very slow and sticky.

The course has a beautiful layout and plays great for any handicap. I am carry a 13.5 and went 43/45. We ( paired up with another single) did have 15-20 mph wind with storm approaching.

Would definitely play it again.

Destin Golf Trip

This is the best course in the Destin area. The layout is challenging but fair and the greens roll true. They may be the best greens in the area.

Fun round of golf

First time playing this course. Easy navigation with signage. Fairways are mostly generous with occasional thin patches. If you hit into deep rough it will probably cost you a stroke as it is difficult to advance. Greens were very quick but fair once you adjust to them. They don’t allow carts into the parking lot so you do need to carry in, use the bag drop area if you have a cart bag. Overall an enjoyable experience.

This was a great course to play, though only two holes were along the bay; the rest featured ponds and fountains. It also had more bunkers than most courses I’ve played. The amenities and staff were excellent, but I wouldn’t pay that much to play Kelly Plantation again.

Maybe the best of the public courses in area

Course was in fantastic cindy, and the greens were especially nice. This probably doesn't get the same traffic that Raven (decent) or Links (bit of a dog track) receive due to price.
