Most of the greens need improvement, having a lot of ball spots
Golf course is good for the beginners and high handicappers. Reasonable price.
Good round
Fairways and greens were in fair shape. I know that they are treating. I will be back. Staff was awesome!
The fairways are a little hard to hit off of. But the ball runs out more. The greens are hard to put on as they are very bumpy. Not at all like the practice putting green, more like the chipping green. I like the layout very much. The carts are very quiet.
Best Ball
My foursome is all over 80 years old. We try and get out once a week and play best ball. The course is in fairly good condition for this time of the year. The fairways could use some TLC. I would recommend this course.
Best Ball
We over 80 golfers play a best ball round once a week. The fairways could use come grass. I would recommend this course for play.
Disappointing
Compared to its brother, the Pines, the Oaks was a huge disappointment. The greens were rough. The fairways were hardly more than dirt. I was expecting a course in as good of shape as the Pines. I would not play the Oaks again in the condition that it is in.
March Madness
The staff and layout of the Oaks Course were fine. The conditions were awful. No grass in the fairways and tees. The greens had a few bare spots and were ‘weedy’. Nothing like the practice green. After our round, spoke with another couple who had just finished their round on the Pines Course. Went on about great, true greens and nice fairways. Come find out, that course was renovated the previous year. No indication on GN or the FWB GC website indicating there was any difference between the courses. We traveled to FL to play courses and would have chosen the Pines Course to insure a good round of golf. Skip this course!!
Disappointed
Having played here several times before I was disappointed in the overall condition compared to the past. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt because of the time of year but many areas had little grass and the greens were not in very good shape. Adding to the disappointment was no starter to keep things running smoothly as groups just went out as "they" saw fit, eventually creating backlogs and waiting. Since previous visits had been positive I am not ready to write them off but certainly hope improvements are in the future.
TYPICAL MUNI
This is the second weekend in a row where we didn't finish our round due to backlog of groups waiting on tee boxes. I get that they're busy, but at some point it becomes miserable for the patrons. The greens were an absolute mess, patchy and thick as carpet. You can't chip around the greens because everything is hardpan. If it wasn't for the price I probably wouldn't ever play there.
Could hardly be worse.
The course was in horrible condition. I had read reviews saying it was bad but thought other reviewers were being unnecessarily critical. Fairways had almost no grass. Bare sand and dirt in most areas. The greens were painted to make them look green and were very bumpy with occasional tufts of some odd grass or weeds. Impossible to get a good lie. Course management should be embarrassed to accept money to play here.
It is a nice big property with a decent layout although the routing seemed odd. I can’t imagine that conditions can improve much as summer approaches. We paid $40 pp on a hot deal and it was about $30 too much. Club house staff were friendly, helpful. Looked like they had a nice bar, restaurant but we just wanted to leave after the round. Clubhouse exterior was nice. The greens on the adjacent Pines course looked better but that course was closed the day we played.
Final comment, stay away. It’s not really golf.
Over 80 group
We try and get out once a week and play best ball. We scored 6 under starting off with an eagle on the first hole. The course is in fairly good shape for this time of the year. The weather is ideal. Recommend this type of play for senior golfers.
Best Ball Play
Us over 80 golfers like to venture out once a week and play a round of best ball. This week we played the Oaks course. Started out with an eagle on the first hole. Got 5 more birdies and 1 bogie after that. The course is in pretty good condition for this time of the year.
