FWB Golf Club Oak Course
Course is pretty wide and open. Fun course. Staff very friendly.
Just Us
We try and play a best ball game once a week. This course is well suited for our game. We normally score under par which makes us want to return the next week. Recommend this course and type of play for season golfers
PL Panhacker Golf
Many courses on the Panhandle. FWB is the public option. Good bones with lots of oaks (!) hanging over the fairways - which are in good shape. The rest, not so much. Tee boxes uneven and chopped up. Greens are poor: slow, sandy and bumpy. I guess they aren't over last month's aeration. (But I couldn't see this because GolfNow moved their reviews to GolfPass but didn't tell anyone. Even a chat rep didn't point me to GolfPass.)
Pace is also poor. Took an hour for 2st three holes. Marshal apologized twice for the slow play. Uh, lawman do your duty? It picked up some later, but...
Problem is the public option brings out the hackers, some of whom have no business on a golf course. Bad play plus poor etiquette. Three balls off the tee and not one in play?
Front nine does not return to club house. Drink carts were frequent though. Range is mats.
Do not recommend until the greens and pace improve.
The over 80 gang
We try and get out once a week and play a best ball game. This course sets up ideal for us. Not 2 hard or easy. The course is in pretty good condition fairways and greens. Recommend this type of play for season over the hill golfers. We normally score under par. Stay tuned for next week's play.
The over 80 gang
We get out and play a best ball game once a week. This course teamed up with Golf Now makes it ideal for us. The course is in fairly good condition. We normally score a little under par which makes us feel good. We each contribute to the score. Stay tuned for next week's play.
Starter unprofessional
We had a foursome and rented a spectator cart for my uncle who has a terminal disease. We played a scramble format but had my uncle putt with us so he could enjoy his last tournament. This starter was rude, unprofessional, and followed us on 4 straight holes hiding behind trees. The group in front of us alerted him who happened to be local members. I never try to unprofessional to anyone but this guy is using his authority in the wrong manner. Nothing will ever be done to change people like that but my uncle was trying to enjoy a golf event with a putter.
Greens Recenly Punched
There was no forewarning about the fairways and greens being punched when I made my reservation nor when I checked in at the pro shop. 😡 The pace of play was great until we started the back nine and then it was painfully slow through 18. The price on GN was lower than normal so that should have been a clue that the course (Oaks) was still “healing.” The weather was fantastic and it was still better than sitting at home watching golf on tv. I expect the course will be much improved in a couple weeks.
Oaks course
Way overbooked. Had to wait 30 minutes past t time as they were out of carts. Lady @ checking went above & beyond to help relieve everyone s stress levels. Course just airated & greens need help
I’d spend my money and time on a better course
I live close by and only place here once a year because the conditions are not fun to play on. Greens in terrible shape. Tee boxes very rough.
Beautiful oak trees
The oaks were beautiful but beware, they come into play in many areas.
Old Farts Best Ball
We try and get out once a week for a little golf and conversation. We are all over 80 and season golfers. This type of play is ideal for us. The course is in pretty good condition for this time of the year. Would recommend this course and this type of play for others.
Needs some improvements
Nice layout but the greens not in
The best shape. I wouldn’t pay more than $40-$50 dollars for 18 to play there.
Needs some landscaping love.
Good course, staff okay
My friends ends and I like to play different courses in the area. We’ve played Oaks at FWB before and really enjoyed it. Lately the staff is not that friendly towards us ladies.
Won't be back
Very bad course conditions - sparse and/or damaged grass in fairways, on greens and tees.
Only worth a discount rate
This course needs a lot of TLC. Greens were awful, tee boxes are beat up and very uneven. Fairways are ok and rough kept low, but the real attention needs to be on the greens that are shaggy, diseased and very slow.
