Good course, staff okay
My friends ends and I like to play different courses in the area. We’ve played Oaks at FWB before and really enjoyed it. Lately the staff is not that friendly towards us ladies.
Only worth a discount rate
This course needs a lot of TLC. Greens were awful, tee boxes are beat up and very uneven. Fairways are ok and rough kept low, but the real attention needs to be on the greens that are shaggy, diseased and very slow.
Greens are really bad right now on Oaks Course
The Oaks course is a nice layout, but the greens were terrible. They were mowed to about fairway height and bumpy, etc. I played with a local guy who said the Pines course is in very good shape. It was rebuilt within the last year. They have a nice driving range with Trackman screens to show your ball flight, carry, etc. Their online tee time system is being updated and may say the course is closed on a day it's open. Supposed to be fixed by mid April 2026.
Nice layout poor greens
Almost every green was in less than ok shape. Tough for putting.
This course needs some maintenance
The course in very bad shape. We played the Oakes course and the greens on the front nine had more dirt than grass. The back nine greens were a little better but had many bare spots as well. The fairways were mostly sand with very little grass. The course is very narrow as well.
Greens nightmare
Played the oaks
The tee boxes were ok
The greens fair in general some areas need a lot of care
The greens were absolutely the worst I’ve ever seen them. Bare spots, raised areas, different types of grass.
Pace of play was bad as well
Played as a twosome, a couple groups let us play thru but the round still took over 4 hours
A Marshall would have been helpful to get things moving but alas none were to be found
For the money I wouldn’t recommend this course
With the conditions as they are $30 ish would be a more equitable price
Played the pines last week much better in every category
Over 80 gang
We play a best ball game once a week. The Oaks course is ideal for us. Would recommend this type of play for season golfers.
Course in poor condition
The staff was friendly but the course layout is not great. It is a very basic layout with some narrow fairways and not much else. The condition of the tee boxes, fairways, and greens is very bad. The fairways are mainly sand with patches of half dead grass and the greens are partially sand, partially half dead grass and partially a very hard substance. Overall very poorly maintained.
The Oaks
We played the final round of our trip at FWB golf club-Oaks course. The club house and pro shop were great. The driving range was closed for some maintenance. The putting and separate chipping greens were fine. The course layout was fun and challenging. The fairways were a combination weeds and sand with a smattering of grass. We immediately agreed to play winter rules in the fairway if you could find grass. The greens on the front 9 were combination of painted dirt, weeds and some grass. The back 9 greens were much better with mostly grass and mowed weeds.
It’s feels like the course gets a lot of play year around which doesn’t allow for much recovery time. I think the grounds crew are probably fighting city maintenance budget issues as well.
We always have fun golfing so yesterday day was no different but it is probably a $30 course in the condition it was in.
Not worth the Money
Greens were mostly sand. Fairway little to no grass.
Oak Course
I haven't played Oaks course in a few years, the condition of the greens were terrible. Inconsistent fairway grass hole to home and around the greens. I will not be playing here again until the greens are fixed and when people have more respect for dragging their feet on the greens in golf shoes.
Value but course needs work
I wish they would redo this course like they did the Pines. But I asked on the the staff and they didn't know if it would be or not. Greens are bad, fairways not much grass. I hope the city has money to fix it.
Greens need some love
The fairways are looking greener and bare spots are beginning tp show signs of life. However, the greens are in need of a LOT of TLC. Weeds and fungus have wreaked havoc on the once smooth surfaces. My putts bounced more than they rolled toward the cup.
Over 80 golfers
The greens were pretty good. The fairways could use some grass in places. We are all over 80 and get out once a week and play best ball. I would recommend this course.
Most of the greens need improvement, having a lot of ball spots
Golf course is good for the beginners and high handicappers. Reasonable price.
