Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course
About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

Again, need drinking water out on the course
Hot and steamy day in the nineties. Saw the cart girl twice. Bought beverages on the 5th hole and tipped her over $10 for her great service and in hopes of getting refreshments again soon. BUT didn’t see her again until after the 16th hole as she said she has to work both golf courses.
Yeah, I filled up my water thermos at the grill after the ninth hole, but you need to have water on the course during Texas summers. I drained my refilled thermos after hole # 12. It’s going to be much, much hotter soon.
Everything else about the place is top notch.
Golf Getaway w/ The Fellas
Me and a few of my buddies do a Golf Trip each year and this year we decided to take our talents to Glen Rose. Some had never played Squaw Valley before, a few had. The overall course conditions were good. Tee to Green you couldn’t complain one bit. A few of the greens have some patch work, but overall, 16 of 18 greens were pretty pure and agian, couldn’t complain. The Staff in the Proshop and in The Rooster Bar & Grille were fabulous and the cart girls came around about every 4 holes on both 18s. The Food inside the Rooster was great too!
We will will be back, and i recommend anyone lookin for a trip to go out, drink, and golf with their friends to check this place out!
Successful 1st Time
The bar/cafe is always a plus at any course. The course layout isn't overly difficult, but just challenging enough for mid-high handicappers. I will definitely return!
Greens Vastly Improved
This is my go to Course and has been for the last 4+ years. Except summer of 2025, when the greens were terrible. That was putting it lightly. This Spring, the Greens are phenomenal and look like carpet. Green and soft. Complete 180 turnaround from last year. Hats off to the grounds crew for this change. Cart And Beverage service has improved as well. Looking forward to many fun rounds this summer. This is the Squaw Valley I know and love.
Always fun
The greens are almost back. Several greens still had bad areas but were playable. Several greens were perfect. Most greens only had a couple of bad areas. Enjoy playing here. Only complaint : i got to tee box on a par 3. 2 grounds crew were working on the edge, I had seen them working on a different green a few minutes earlier. Without any communication they left me waiting for 20 minutes. Seemed to be slow walking the repairs. These are county employees and are usually very conscientious.
Nice track
Love the layout, especially the back nine. The greens are good for this time of year. Fairways are also in shape.
Weekend with boys
Perfect Day & course for me & my boys to share a Sunday afternoon.
