Quail Brook Golf Course
About
Quail Brook Golf Course in Somerset is one of central New Jersey's top public courses. The challenging design is a favorite amongst local golfers. The layout has a diverse mix of holes, some of which are spacious and wide-open and others that are rolling and tight. Although the golf course may seem short at 6,630 yards from the back tees, don't be fooled by the yardage. The course can feel much longer thanks to the hilly terrain. The front nine has subtler undulations while the back nine is dramatically hilly, which makes it a tough course to walk. Quail Brook Golf Course's undulating fairways lead to challenging sloped greens that are framed with strategically placed bunkers. There aren't too many opportunities for driving, but your short game will definitely get a workout.

Worth It
Overall nice course. Greens are in great shape but difficult. Fairways are in good shape. Roughs were in bad shape. They were thin and dried out which made the course play much easier than it would if they were plush. The layout makes it difficult for to walk with many holes very far apart. Range was off Matt’s which were not in good shape. Staff was friendly. As far as time goes, played well on a Wednesday.
Slick greens
The course was in its usual good condition. However, the greens were so fast as to be oppressive, and the long grass “habitat“ areas were excessively punitive. As a result, I lost numerous balls. Not as much fun as it should be.
Very good, solid county course. Course was in great condition, tees, fairways and greens. Fun layout. Not overly difficult, but not easy and boring either. Not up to Neshanic level, but still a good pick. Definitely worth the visit.
Really Nice Course!
Course was in terrific shape — fairways, greens, etc. and price was very reasonable.
Quailbrook
Course was in great condition. Course layout is excellent. Pace of play was above average. I will definitely play here again. Awesome
Good maintenance
The fairways, rough and bunkers are in great condition on nearly all the holes. Just a few areas, for example, the area between the 13th and 14th holes, I have numerous bare spots. Other than that, great work by the Greenskeepers.
Consistent Quail Brook
The course is in terrific condition, especially for this time of year, but that is generally the case with the Somerset county courses
Back 9
Ride, don’t walk the back 9. Great course, greens were challenging but rolled true. Highly recommend
One of my favorite courses
Quailbrook continues to be one of my favorite places to golf. The course is in great shape, leaves are kept to a bare minimum, the greens are in great shape, as are the fairways. There are no off course amenities to speak of, except for a putting practice green and driving range. Course design is not at all creative, but I enjoy it just the same
Nice Track, Rude Staff
Nice course for a local muni and in good shape. Staff was rude, gave me crap about wearing jeans.....on a muni...in the off-season. Then charged me for 18 holes with a cart and kicked me out of the cart after nine holes even with 2 hours left to play! Will not return, too many good options in the area.
Never see so many bad golfers in one place!!!!
Course was painfully slow but there wasn’t a ranger to be found the whole day
Two groups on the tee not uncommon here!!?
Extra Shots, They should have taken the buckets out and called the course a Driving Range….
