Great Mountain Course
The course is in a gated community, but is easy to find via GPS. The parking lot is a bit small, but we did not have trouble finding a spot and you can take the carts into the lot for easy loading/unloading. There is a large putting green, but no driving range. It does look like they are adding some nets for warming up, but they were not complete when we were there. The pro shop is around and below the pool (in case you are wondering!), and the staff was very friendly and polite. You can tell they are proud of the course. The golf carts, with GPS, are probably the nicest of any course I have played in the area, and that's a good thing because you should take a cart. The course has a lot of elevation changes and some long runs between greens and tee boxes. The tee boxes were mostly in good shape, although some of them were hard to stick in your tee. The fairways were typical for this time of year - some patchy thick grass over dormant thinner grass, but very playable. The greens were slow... very slow actually, but held approach shots well - I am not sure they will do that later in the season! Overall, a very nice course with a wide variety of hole designs, slanted fairways, elevation changes and water hazards. Definitely not a bust-and-pray course, especially on the front nine. Use the GPS to help you pick your clubs and you can shoot a good score here. The elevation changes will definitely test your club selection, and there are plenty of hazards around to snap up errant golf balls, so bring a few extra. That is probably why the pace of play is uneven - golfers in trouble are slower than those who can stay in the fairway. This is a course that is a good value and fun to play. The scenery is really nice from some holes and there is wildlife around if you keep your eyes open. Pay attention on the directions from #9 to #10 and from #14 to #15 - there are some markers, but they could probably make it a bit more obvious where to go. We will definitely play again, hopefully later in the season when everything is green.
Greens weren’t great, but it helped my play
Course staff is awesome, starter actually got us out early ahead of some inclement weather. Love the routing of this course, recommend it a lot. Greens were a little hairy, but even with that in mind they were pretty fast and it definitely saved a few putts for me. Staff working the turn acted like it was an inconvenience that we were ordering food and one of our group ordered the daily special posted by the window and the worker just told them no with no explanation and told them to order something else.
Worth the drive
Nice course. Playable but challenging enough to still make you work for birdie. Carts are new with accurate GPS monitors, but the cart paths could use some work.
GREAT conditions for winter golf, greens, fairways, and tee boxes all in good shape.
Hard to book
Great course, very challenging. We booked thru golf now, hot deals. John in the clubhouse was very friendly, and knowledgeable about the course. He made checking in very easy. I will play this course, soon. There's always a waiting time, it's so popular.
Great experience! Will absolutely be back
Greens were in amazing shape!! The clubhouse staff was great!!
Chestnut Mountain
Overall this is a great course with several challenging holes and great views. The golf carts were very new electric carts. The restaurant is nice, but sometimes not open and this time closed early for some reason on a Saturday afternoon. Not a big deal, but you have to bring food and drinks to be sure.
Superb Experience
The course was in excellent condition. The fairways are forgiving but the beware of the fast greens. There were some elevations to the course but nothing too large. The staff was super friendly and making the entire experience superb. The course layout was a bit challenging to navigate at points. The carts had GPS but they weren’t the easiest to use as you had to keep selcting the hole your were playing and hit play hole for it to work. They could use an update here. The only reason I gave 3 stars for the amenities as the pub at the club was closed for what appeared to be some renovations. Otherwise it was an excellent time and I would plan to play to this course again!
Great Course
Greens are great. They are slow because they have to be due to Green size. Love this course!
Chestnut CC
This Course is so well maintained. The course is So Clean, well taken care of, and the views are breathtaking. I honestly have nothing Negative to say about this Golf Course.
Chestnut Mountain
Great course, not long but very challenging w very small greens which were in great shape overall. Some of the tee boxes were pretty rough and we could’ve used a ranger, a slow group ahead of us drug our round out to 4.5 hours and made no offer to let our twosome play through. Overall great experience though w a Very friendly staff and a nice 19th hole for lunch.
Nice course
The course layout was good with great views, the course was a bit wet in sheltered places due to the rain in the last few weeks but were the course was open and in the sun it was fine. Staff were great and it was well worth the money.
No Ranger, Greens to Small
Very slow pace of play, 4:45 round time. Waited 5-10 minutes on every tee with both a single and a twosome quitting do to pace of play. No Ranger, with a GPS system that knows where all carts are and who is causing slow play but chooses to both not monitor slow or do anything about it. The course, well beautiful property and views, however, the greens are so ridiculously narrow, some less than 20' makes play slow because no one can hit them, just bad green complex designs. Condition was above average with greens smooth but slow, fairways very good, rough too long, tees in terrible condition, mostly weeds. Price at $75 was too much for this course and experience. I play 60+ rounds a year and this was my most unsatisfying rounds this year. I do not recommend.
Great shape, great layout, great views…but had to wait on every single shot. Appears some of the folks in the neighborhood would just hop on the course wherever they felt like it.
