Best bets for the 2025 Masters

Can Rory complete the grand slam? Will Scottie win another green jacket? Storylines are plentiful at the 2025 Masters.
LIV Golf Singapore - Day Two
Jon Rahm's game is in form to contend for his second green jacket.

The Masters has achieved new heights in intrigue and hype the past few years. The rich history and nostalgia are now matched with the new element of being the first time the best players in the world gather each year. The potential story lines are endless. A red-hot Rory McIlroy looks to complete the career grand slam. Scottie Scheffler tries to get back to his 2024 ways and win his third green jacket. Ludvig Åberg attempts to make the jump from “next elite player” to “bona fide superstar” by winning his first major in only his second Masters (after finishing second last year).

However, I didn’t pick any of those three to win (probably stupidly). I would pick Scottie to win this week if odds didn’t exist. I just can’t justify +450 with this field. If a larger live number appears on Thursday after an early bogey, I will jump on board for the “Scottie wins 3 green jackets in 4 years” train. So, who do we like to potentially win this week? Here are four players that I think are worth a wager to win the 2025 Masters tournament.

All odds listed are the best odds available at time of publishing via oddschecker.

Jon Rahm 16-1 (bet $10 to win $160)

Just 18 months ago we frequently debated who the best golfer in the world was – Scheffler or Rahm? The logical answer at the time was usually Jon Rahm. In the time since, Rahm has fallen to the periphery of the competitive golf world for most casual viewers. The move to LIV and a lackluster major season in 2024 made it easy to forget about Jon Rahm. But he still is a fantastic golfer and is having a great season. Rahm has finished in the top 10 in every LIV tournament he’s completed, and his short game is the best it’s ever been statistically, according to data golf.

I believe LIV golfers are still slightly undervalued at the majors, and at 16-1 the 2023 winner is a solid bet.

Shane Lowry 45-1

Shane comes into this week with four consecutive top 20s and his ball-striking led the way each week. The big man’s soft hands are a perfect fit at Augusta and I can picture him executing tough pitch shots flawlessly down the stretch on the way to his second major. His game fits the course very well and I am a little surprised he’s only contended once – a T3 finish in 2022. His game is in form to make 2025 the second time.

Russell Henley 55-1

I consider Russell Henley every week he plays. He’s too good, and too consistent, of a player to have odds in this range. He’s already compiled four top 10s this year, including his win at Bay Hill, and has yet to miss a cut. His lack of distance is worrisome at Augusta, but not enough to scare me away from the Georgia native. The rest of his game has been elite this year and closing out an event recently should offer a nice confidence boost if he gets into contention.

Will Zalatoris 55-1

Three Masters starts and three top 10s. Willy Z clearly has an affinity to the grounds of Augusta National. The Masters is a tournament where course fit seems to matter more than current form. If Zalatoris goes four for four in top 10s this week, I will be happy to have 55-1 on Sunday afternoon.
