Greg Norman is selling the perfect spot to do some social distancing with Mother Nature ... if you can afford it.
The Shark recently listed his "Seven Lakes Ranch" in Meeker, Colo., with broker Hall and Hall for $40 million. That's a bargain compared to the $50 million price listed last year and the $55 million from 2016, according to realtor.com.
The 11,900-acre property, straddling the trout-filled White River and home to seven mountain lakes, sits in the White River Valley before rising thousands of feet in elevation. The centerpiece is a 13,907-square-foot log lodge with eight guest suites. A variety of cabins provide additional accommodations and are complemented by an authentic saloon/dance hall and outbuildings. The ranch is surrounded by public land boundaries on either side, including the White River National Forest. The sportsman's paradise has seen only limited development since Norman bought it in the 1990s.
Limited hunting on the ranch has resulted in a veritable wildlife sanctuary, with plentiful populations of game, especially elk and mule deer. The White River is well known as an outstanding trout fishery, and Seven Lakes Ranch encompasses nearly two miles of a premier stretch of it. This beautiful 1.9± mile reach includes both sides and is completely private. A medium gradient freestone river, the White is famous for prolific hatches, highlighted by an incredible spring caddis hatch and excellent dry-fly fishing throughout the summer and fall months.
An extensive internal road network and trail system links a wide variety of recreational activities such as a shooting range, sporting clays, horseback riding, biking, hiking, snowmobiling and ice skating. Golf is not part of its allure. In fact, the vast wilderness almost became a course before Norman talked the investor out of it once the Shark saw the land.
"You would be absolutely crazy to ruin one of the most magnificent valleys in America," Norman recalled in his book, The Way of the Shark: Lessons on Golf, Business, and Life. "I wouldn't build a golf course here if I were you. I'm saving you 10 million dollars. Don't do it."
The nearest civilization is the town of Meeker, population 2,400 people, about 20 minutes away. Meeker offers an airstrip for the jetsetter crowd. Commercial service is available at the Steamboat-Hayden airport about an hour and a half from the ranch. For more information, visit the official listing here.
It's a great piece of land! Greg has spent a lot of money and time with repairing the river banks to doing the re-model to the lodge. One hell of a drive up the road! This is not a cattle ranch! But a great, Fun, retreat that once you get there you don't want to leave!! Been there twice for work. If I had the money I would make a offer! Good luck Greg.
Very beautiful piece of property.
IT MUST BE NICE !!!!!!!!
