Mismanaged and/or Neglected Course
It's a decent little track but the clubhouse is notorious for allowing 5 and sometimes 6 people in a group. Dress code might as well be deleted. Every day they let people off the front and back 9 simultaneously even when they aren't busy which means you might make the turn and be behind 3 groups you've never seen before. Greens and tee boxes are in dire need of repair. Absolutely no one (players or maintenance)repairs ball marks, players drive wherever and whenever they want, and several greens have the scars from putter gouges. Maintenance workers will cast aside tee markers to mow the tee box and the tee markers will still be cast aside a week later. They never move the tee markers forward or backward so the surface between them is worn out to the dirt. I usually have to tee up 5 yards in front or behind tee markers just to be on green grass. 6 and sometimes 7 days a week the most senior person working is about 21 years old and could care less what happens. Never seen a ranger there and with all the immature little college kids running wild, the course needs one badly. Clubhouse has 1 refrigerator and about 7 or 8 different drinks. No food other than a Snickers bar.
The course could be a real money maker since all the other courses in the area are either semi-private or private. It's clear this course is content to be nothing more than what it is.
If you don't mind an extra 15-20 min drive, go to Cypress Landing in Chocowinity. They have their act together over there.
Best condition I've seen this course in.
I been playing this course for a number of years when ever I come to see my daughter. This is the best condition I have see this course in. Don't know if it's under new management or not. What ever they are doing keep it up. Staff friendly, price good, course in very good shape.
Improvement Suggestions
#6 - Missing fairway 150yd marker
#7 - Blue/Yellow tee box in poor condition (under tree). Blue tee markers missing.
Course - Bunker sand highly inconsistent. No fairway yardage markers
Tee to green the course is in great shape and very playable. Just a couple things they could do to make it more player friendly. I enjoy playing here quite often. The membership is a great deal for anyone who plays 3 or more times per month.
Great course for beginners but the Tee Times are too close.
The course is great for beginners, staff is nice, nice range and practice area and its a pretty forgiving course. But the one thing that constantly becomes a problem is the tee times are too close together. It seems like every hole you are held up waiting and its impossible to get in a rhythm. You will take your time and always end up waiting at the next hole, most of the time you will have 3 groups on one hole and it becomes a miserable day of golf.
Out of towners
We're here visiting our daughter. Have ben playing this course for a number of years like you very much.
Winter Golf is Here…apparently
This course could have been so much better but for a few things that need attention. Pace of play was painfully slow and our tee time was at 10:00am. There wasn’t one Marshall in site all day so everyone was doing whatever they wanted with no regard for the other groups. The greens were covered in debris, as well as the bunkers (which haven’t been raked in weeks). The greens were also in terrible shape with disease and chunks of soil/grass missing throughout. The “first cut” was 5-6” tall so good luck finding your ball. It seems Nov 1 rolled around and they decided course maintenance was no longer important. Had we known winter golf was here already we would’ve went elsewhere.
Course to myself
It rained that morning but cleared up right as I go to the course, I was the only car in the parking lot. Course was dry even after raining all morning and I had the place to myself, great round of golf
Awesome Day
The staff was great yesterday. Really helpful. Conditions were great.
