Love it here!
I’m a so, so golfer, sometimes I play pretty well and other times not so.
I love the course layout and it matches my competitiveness with some challenging holes. The course was in very good condition even with the lack of rain in New Bern.
You cannot find a friendlier group of people who work in the Pro Shop and groundskeepers.
I have yet to experience the grill area as my wife and I plan on doing so in the near future.
Great value, great people and a great course.
Very Playable and Enjoyable Course
My wife and I are in our mid seventies and we both favored playing this lovely course in the town of River Bend just outside of New Bern, NC. It’s mid spring and the course is in nice shape, no bare spots in the fairways, sand traps are in fully filled and dressed, greens are starting to come into season shape. Tee boxes need a little work but that is my only negative.
The course from the tips is about 6600 yds but the absolute best thing is they have a forward set of tees at about 4000 yds that my wife loves. The course really becomes playable and she plays 18 holes no problem.
So if you are a senior player you will be able to enjoy playing with your spouse where she will have a great time also. The rates are very reasonable, they have a newish fleet of Yamaha gas carts, but no yardage computers in the carts so bring your own. The course and cart paths are marked for blue, white, and red.
The pro shop folks are very friendly and we will definitely play here often while in town.
Grewt local course
Great condition. Green are in good shape as well. Staff is friendly
All in all ok.
Everything is great except the greens are sandy tea boxes need some seed. But Everything easy good
Great course to play
Love playing here. The course has a great layout and can be played many different ways depending on which tee box you choose. The course can even be played as long par 3’s if you play the most senior tee box’s and can hit it far. The driving range and practice green and perfect and even offer small mats to hit off of. The on site grill is making me fat so that’s saying something 🤣.. over all this is a great play to play practice and eat. If you are solo there’s always someone that will go with you or run it by yourself. Either way Riverbend golf club is worth it.
My favorite in the area
I play this course as often as I can and there are courses closer to me. The people here are so kind. The course is an older course but they work hard to keep it in good shape. It is also not so difficult that an errant shot messes with your chances of a decent score. A place that feels like home. The burger and fries are delicious!!
River Bend the Beautiful
The course is in impeccable condition for this time of year pace of play is awesome and the staff is always courteous!
Enjoyed the course.
Course was great. Greens can be better. Would play again when in town.
Nice place to play
This is a very nice golf course that is well kept. I get to play it as part of my membership elsewhere. This was my first time and I had a lot of fun. Yes the fairways are wide, but in general it keeps play fast . The greens and traps were in good shape and I never had a bad lie in the fairways. I likes the range also, where I play normally, its not much of a range.
The greens need serious work
Lots of grassless spots on the greens - kinda makes putting a lot more challenging
So close to a fun course! H
I have played the course twice now and the course could be one of the best.
Unfortunately every tee box has a problem, significantly slanted, chopped up, weed filled or some combination. The greens are fuzzy and in need of TLC and repair. If you are long from a pin chances are you will be putting over a bare spot.
The course layout is fun and challenging, the fairways are open and in good shape, the rough isn’t punishing.
So close to be a great course but the issues do detract from the enjoyment of the play.
Nice place to play
The course is fun, it’s pretty wide open and well kept. The greens are way faster than you would think. Worth playing.
It was our very first time playing at that course—and, quite possibly, our last. As we stepped onto the fairways, we couldn’t help but notice how rough and uneven they looked, like a patchwork quilt left out in the rain. The grass was patchy and unkempt, making every shot feel uncertain. The greens weren’t much better—browned, bumpy, and in desperate need of some TLC. It was clear that the course had seen better days.
Despite the conditions, there was a silver lining. The staff members were genuinely friendly and eager to help, which made a big difference.
