Great Value!
The course was beautiful and just challenging enough to be a great 9 holes on an early Saturday morning.
Been Playing Paschals for three decades
The course is in great condition and is the best value in golf around. Lots of blind shots, undulations and postage stamp greens. For late August, the turf was lush despite lack of irrigation. A few weeds here and there and liberal cart paths. Super short white two of the first three holes being par fives with eagle opportunities even for a moderate player. The fourth hole is worth the fair alone. At 140 yards from the tips, it’s so far downhill that it only played 100 yards. Verified with a rangefinder… The ninth is a worthy finishing hole with a green the size of a parking spot.
I might be bias… Continue reading if you wish…
Paschals holds a special place for me as it was the course my Dad brought me to for my first ever round in 1989. We continued to play the course for several years…
During Masters week in 1993 Bernard Langer was the leader. I remember he was teeing it up very close to the markers and I had to do the same at every tee... I distinctly remember my Dad yelling at me on the third. “Don’t tee it up so close to the markers, you’re going to break your club!”
The other crazy part about the course is the history. It was established in 1917 an Arnold Palmer played the course while he attended Wake Forest University(before the it changes over to the Southern Baptist Seminary and moved to Winston Salem) in 1949 through 1951. The nostalgic look of the course can’t but make you think of the early King.
I played Paschals today for the first time in ten years. It was special for me it was the first course for my golf career which encompassed thousands of competitive rounds through in high school and college. Before that it was the first round with my Dad. The last round I played with my Dad occurred almost 10 years to the day 10 minutes to the West at Hazentree Country Club. This was a special round.
Paschals is a walk back into golf history but also a special walk for me. I had a great time playing Paschals today alone, with my Dad. I hope it never changes.
Arnie is the draw
Greens were JUST sanded, greens were not playable. I understand course maintenance… but there was no notification on the app or at check in at 7am for the tee time.
I mean it… completely unplayable
Very nice local course
This was a really nice course. Nice pace of play, super friendly staff. We had a monsoon the day before so it was wet. The paths for the carts could use a little fine-tuning so that there aren’t as many ditches and holes resulting in us having to drive on the grass, but other than that we had a lot of fun and we will be back! We got a great deal with golf pass and only had to pay $26 total for nine holes, including a cart! You can’t beat that for a great day of golf! .
Great time
Had a great time playing this course with some old friends. It wasn’t crowded and ever other golfer was nice and not pushy. All in all will be going again. Maybe next time with more people!!
Old school golf for a good price.
Course is old, cart paths are non existent. But it brings you back to the days of how golf was played back in the day. Greens are super small, but I had a lot of fun.
first time playing - enjoyed
first time on course, scorecard layout of holes was not as precise as i would have liked for a new player to the course. but course was in good shape for mid october. wet in spots, fast greens, good challenges, and no rush.
Refreshing reminder
Not much to say. The course is nice reminder of what golf was. The tiny greens remind you how hard golf can be. The holes offered a nice layout with some fun shots. The fairways are narrow and undulating. I had a great time and shot +2! I’ll be back out for sure.
Good value
A nice mix of longer and shorter holes. Well maintained. Good value for the money.
