Wildwood Green Golf Course
About
Wildwood Green Golf Club in northern Raleigh was designed with players of all skill levels in mind, Opened in 1986, the classic layout underwent a major renovation 10 years later that made it into a challenging but playable test that welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. Generous landing areas offer some room for error off of the tee and the greens are large and inviting. There are still plenty of trees and sand traps to keep the layout interesting though. Accuracy and careful pin placement are also required to handle Wildwood Green's subtle elevation changes. The golf course finishes with one of its most difficult holes. This par 4 is a slight dogleg right with Carolina pines bordering the right edge as well as a bunker to the left. The approach is an uphill, blind shot to a deep and undulated green.

Good Condition
Greens were very nice, a little slow. Fairways are very full. Rough is dense. Fun layout, can get slow on pace, green fees have gotten crazy.....wouldn't pay over $60 during the week.
Great track
Great condition, Great greens, little crowded. Had a good experience playing here for the first time . I will definitely play here again.
Wish I Could Get On More
Lucky to find a GolfNow opening because usually the members have the tee times sewn up tight. Great conditions (for being in a drought) greens punched recently but bounced back fast and roll well. Fun layout. Better be accurate with the driver as it's a bit narrow in spots. Staff was excellent and attentive. I'd play here all the time if I could. And for $65? Great value.
The starter was extremely disrespectful and rude, showing no regard for the people who pay good money to enjoy a round of golf. This kind of behavior has no place in what should be a friendly and welcoming environment. Chasing customers down the first tee to display an attitude is completely unacceptable. Please hire staff who treat guests with respect and professionalism. We will not be returning or spending our money here again. Period.
I also forgot to mention that the ranger chased customers to the second and third holes, adding even more disrespect to an already unpleasant experience. Instead of helping create an enjoyable atmosphere, both the starter and the ranger seemed more interested in confronting customers. It was unprofessional, unnecessary, and completely unacceptable. Seriously 😒. We came to enjoy a round of golf, not to be treated this way. We will not be returning.
Grade A course.
Tough track(I’m a 20+ handicap). Got in line after the weekly’s men’s group and the starter was doing his best to hold it together. The greens and fairways were very well kept and consistent(considering our drought, was refreshing). The layout and design of the course was compact but challenging. Small clubhouse but clean and had plenty of offerings. Definitely will be coming back.
Great all the time
Such a good course for regular play. Good pace. Nice layout.
Course is greening up nicely
Looks great for April. It’s been dry for a couple weeks, but the course is turning green and conditions are firm.
Enjoyable day at Wildwood Green
First time to play course. 10am tee time. The course is Semi Private and i was paired with a "member" twosome. The course is a suburban course, lined with large mature trees and houses. It was challenging with hilly terrain and large greens. which I thought were rolling fast but true. There were a lot of walkers (which i respect) so the pace of play started a little slow but evened out through the front nine and ultimately was not an issue. I can confidently say I would play the course again.
I’ll be back
I really like the course. It was my first time there and I was treated great and I played with two members who could not have been better to me
Great Experience
I haven’t played this course in many years and they have done a lot of work on it with upgrades. The course is well maintained but very challenging so bring your A game!
Good Summer Condition
WWG is in very good condition for mid-summer. The greens had been lightly sanded but rolled true and were not brutal fast. The rough is very dense....not that tall, but thick.
Rest of course is in good condition. We played in 4 hours on the nose and would have finished at least 30 minutes earlier if there weren't so many walkers in front of us.
I will go again
I played Wildwood on a Tuesday evening with my son and we enjoyed ourselves. Given our start was after 5:30pm, we didn't finish, but we made it through 13 holes. The guy who checked us in in the clubhouse told me about Youth on Course for my son, which seems like a nice program. We actually were let off early after spending some time at the range ($8.40 for a small bucket) and on the practice green. I told my son the greens probably wouldn't be as good/fast as the practice greens, but I was wrong. The course was in really good shape to me. I haven't played there in 15+ years and it seems better now than it was then. With the heat, it would have been nice to have found more cold water to refill our bottles through the course, but we survived. Carts had GPS for free, so that was nice.
A golf course that's greedy even for small change.
I booked a tee time through GolfNow for $55 in green fees. However, when I arrived at the course, the pro shop charged me an additional $1.23, stating it was tax.
As a CPA, I am aware that the sales tax rate in Raleigh, NC 27613 is 7.25%. Considering that green fees are typically non-taxable, I suspect that the additional $1.23 was tax applied to the golf cart rental fee of $16.97.
Most golf courses on GolfNow include taxes in their advertised prices. This was the first time I’ve encountered an unexpected extra charge at the course. In my opinion, the course should have incorporated the tax into the total amount charged through GolfNow. Asking for additional payment at check-in, even a small amount, can leave a negative impression and undermine trust in the GolfNow booking platform.
Furthermore, when I requested a receipt, the staff did not provide a clear explanation and seemed evasive, which only added to the frustration.
Regardless of whether the tax charge was technically accurate, I believe this kind of experience can cause discomfort for customers and should be taken into consideration for future improvement.
We take all feedback seriously, which is why we reviewed the incident with both employees involved. Our starter was simply ensuring that the player remained with the booked and assigned group. After hitting a tee shot, the player proceeded down the fairway before the paired twosome had finished teeing off, despite being asked to wait. The starter then drove onto the 1st hole a second time to again ask the player to wait and join the assigned group. When the player continued ahead on their own, the ranger was asked to ensure the group was reunited. The ranger observed the group on the 2nd hole and ensured they joined back together, which ultimately occurred on the 3rd hole.
At a busy golf course, pairing groups together and keeping them together is essential for maintaining pace of play and providing a fair experience for everyone on the course. Our starter and ranger were doing exactly that. Both are long-tenured employees who are consistently recognized by our members and guests for their professionalism and customer service.
During the round, our staff also observed the player's ride-along guest participating in play despite only one golfer being booked and checked in for the reservation. Like our pairing policy, our check-in and green fee policies are applied consistently to all guests to ensure fairness for everyone using the facility.
While we understand not everyone agrees with our policies, our staff's interactions were not intended to be confrontational. They were simply carrying out their responsibility to enforce the same policies and expectations that apply equally to every golfer at Wildwood Green. We stand behind our staff and appreciate the professionalism they demonstrate every day in providing an organized and enjoyable experience for all of our guests.
Some elaboration on what they were "chasing you down" for would be helpful.
