Wildwood Green Golf Club in northern Raleigh was designed with players of all skill levels in mind, Opened in 1986, the classic layout underwent a major renovation 10 years later that made it into a challenging but playable test that welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. Generous landing areas offer some room for error off of the tee and the greens are large and inviting. There are still plenty of trees and sand traps to keep the layout interesting though. Accuracy and careful pin placement are also required to handle Wildwood Green's subtle elevation changes. The golf course finishes with one of its most difficult holes. This par 4 is a slight dogleg right with Carolina pines bordering the right edge as well as a bunker to the left. The approach is an uphill, blind shot to a deep and undulated green.

Great Experience

I haven’t played this course in many years and they have done a lot of work on it with upgrades. The course is well maintained but very challenging so bring your A game!

Good Summer Condition

WWG is in very good condition for mid-summer. The greens had been lightly sanded but rolled true and were not brutal fast. The rough is very dense....not that tall, but thick.

Rest of course is in good condition. We played in 4 hours on the nose and would have finished at least 30 minutes earlier if there weren't so many walkers in front of us.

I will go again

I played Wildwood on a Tuesday evening with my son and we enjoyed ourselves. Given our start was after 5:30pm, we didn't finish, but we made it through 13 holes. The guy who checked us in in the clubhouse told me about Youth on Course for my son, which seems like a nice program. We actually were let off early after spending some time at the range ($8.40 for a small bucket) and on the practice green. I told my son the greens probably wouldn't be as good/fast as the practice greens, but I was wrong. The course was in really good shape to me. I haven't played there in 15+ years and it seems better now than it was then. With the heat, it would have been nice to have found more cold water to refill our bottles through the course, but we survived. Carts had GPS for free, so that was nice.

A golf course that's greedy even for small change.

I booked a tee time through GolfNow for $55 in green fees. However, when I arrived at the course, the pro shop charged me an additional $1.23, stating it was tax.

As a CPA, I am aware that the sales tax rate in Raleigh, NC 27613 is 7.25%. Considering that green fees are typically non-taxable, I suspect that the additional $1.23 was tax applied to the golf cart rental fee of $16.97.

Most golf courses on GolfNow include taxes in their advertised prices. This was the first time I’ve encountered an unexpected extra charge at the course. In my opinion, the course should have incorporated the tax into the total amount charged through GolfNow. Asking for additional payment at check-in, even a small amount, can leave a negative impression and undermine trust in the GolfNow booking platform.

Furthermore, when I requested a receipt, the staff did not provide a clear explanation and seemed evasive, which only added to the frustration.

Regardless of whether the tax charge was technically accurate, I believe this kind of experience can cause discomfort for customers and should be taken into consideration for future improvement.

Great course

I play here 4 or 5 times a year. I really only just noticed how great a course it is. Layout is just great, with giant oak trees, elevation changes, nice greens, sloping fairways, cool cart paths around nice homes. This is the untold gem of Raleigh.

Amazing conditions, solid pace of play!

Was able to play 18 holes as a three-some teeing off at 5pm, 3:40 round. Conditions are pure and the starters actually do their job. Someone showed up late, made them drive out to the group he was with on 1st green. Always a great experience!

Challenging Fun Course

The course is in great shape. I really enjoyed playing in the afternoon yesterday. The piece of playoff was great. The Rangers sped up the group of photos when we finished around and just under four hours.

Course is in great shape! Some of the best greens in Wake County. Also, there aren’t many things better in this world than their Breakfast Buritto, a must have!

A nice May round of golf in NC

Course is in really good shape. A very nice round with nobody slowing us down and nobody really pushing us. Golf is much more fun when there is grass under your ball, greens are fast and true, and there is a bit of ‘social distancing’. My golf game was a bit off center but I enjoyed the round nonetheless.

Great course

I have only played here 3 times but everytime I play it gets better. Staff are great, awesome atmosphere, and they keep the pace of play on track. Don't see that very often anymore. Love this place.

Great course on the expensive side

Great course. Tee times are stacked close to each other so it feels like people are right behind one another. Great amenities. For a semi private course it’s awesome, but definitely on the pricier side.

This course is really fun to play!

Great course that’s maintained really well! Greens are pure, course layout is fun and overall you won’t find a better course to play in the heart of Raleigh at a more reasonable price than on GolfNow. Staff was super friendly which was refreshing! Pace of play can be slower but this day it flowed smoothly. Overall, will definitely be back again soon!

Very below on weekend

Came in at a late afternoon tee time. The pace of play was very slow. The group I was playing could have finished more holes if we played at reasonable speed.

The staff was very friendly.

Great Course

Great overall course. Love walking this course with my wife during twilight hours.

However, slow pace of play at the end of the day, filled with teenagers who clog things up.
