Good times at Goodpark.
We played Goodpark on July 30, 2020. I’m normally a senior but decided to play from the regular tees. We were a twosome and normally play in 2.5 hours for 18. If took us 3 hours since we had to wait on most holes on the backbone. The greens were great and most held well. Bunkers are still not the greatest and we played winter rules in the fairway. Still for a public course it was fun.
Excellent Municipal Course, Mature Trees = Shade
I decided when it was over 100 degrees with the heat index to play here, due to the mature tree lined fairways, providing a space to park carts in shade. The course is starting to dry, allowing a tee shot in the fairway to run, but the conditions were still good except for bunkers which are more like raked dirt at this point. Overall, as a municipal course it was excellent, and the only improvement would have been if groups in front of us spraying balls and duffing it would move to a better set of tees. Course also has full assortment of Thirsty Dog beer!!!
Booked for the wrong day
I booked this tee time for the wrong day. Anyway I can get a credit?
Great conditions made for an enjoyable round
Stuck between leagues early on a Thursday morning made front nine pace for our twosome brutal. Back nine was wide open and took less than 90 minutes to finish. Course was in beautiful shape and greens were rolling pretty quick. Snagged a hot deal and was very pleased at the value.
Pace of play
The only contra I would say is foursomes in the second nine, ahead of those playing 18 holes, which slowed down their pace enormously.
Besides that, beautiful course, great conditions, and friendly staff.
Good value
Good Track
Good park is a great old school layout. Greens were in perfect condition. Tee boxes were in great condition as well. Our tee time (8:55am on a Thursday) was somehow a hot deal in the middle of a women’s senior league and a men’s senior league. The starter got us out there in good time. Didn’t get stuck behind the leagues but had to jump around a little. Overall slightly challenging course that punishes you for missing.
In great shape.
It’s been a few years since I played Good Park in Akron. The course was in great shape. Greens were quick. Fairways did not need to roll the balloon. Rough was hard to find balls. I’d go back again.
Good track
Good track but the pace of play in the groups around us was rather horribly slow. greens in great shape. Tight fairways. Lots of trees. not for the golfer whom sprays the ball. you need to keep it in play
Very Difficult Course
This course is extremely difficult for two reasons:
the number and proximity of trees to the fairways
the number of doglegs
Both make for a long, hard day of golf.
Beautiful day
8:30am Sunday tee time. Waited a little, but overall not too bad. Course is really nice and a great value. Loved the greens
Excellent
The course conditions were excellent! Great job. Pace of play was very nice. This course is very difficult but fun to play. Definitely will challenge even a low handicapper.
Beautiful course
I don't know if it's because the course has been closed all spring or what but it's in the best shape I've ever seen it. Fairways are emaculate and greens are in great shape.
