Cooks Creek Golf Club
About
Cooks Creek Golf Club (previously known as Raintree South Golf Club) is bordered by Little Walnut Creek on one side and the Scioto River on the other, providing a scenic setting that is ideal for a round of golf. The course is a certified Audubon Sanctuary and there is also a Blue Herron rookery on site. Opened in 1993, the golf course is relatively young but it has already established a reputation for being one of central Ohio's best public courses. Local architects Michael Hurzdan and Dana Fry designed the course with the assistance of John Cook. Cooks Creek has two completely unique nines that offer two different sets of challenges. The diverse layout requires careful strategy and it will also test your shot-making abilities. With two bodies of water serving as neighbors, water definitely plays a role on the golf course.

Tee Boxes (This is one of the tee boxes with actual green on it, rather than just pure dirt) Photo submitted by ScEGDxKM8Z1A9tQ5q63k on 10/13/2019

This was a fairway, patches of dirt like this were extremely common throughout. Photo submitted by ScEGDxKM8Z1A9tQ5q63k on 10/13/2019

I am glad the Cook family owns it again!
You can see the difference now that the Cook family owns the course. Very close to the way it was when the course first opened. Great golf experience with friendly staff who are a part of the Cook family
One of our favorite courses, we play it a lot. Only saved about $3 by going through the online booking process, not really worth the time.
Nice track
This course is a very fair course. Greens were absolutely perfect. The bunkers needed some work, but the staff acknowledged that before I went out. I would definately play this course again.
Fun golf cheap
I'm from New Jersey working out here and needed to play a few times this week. I went to cooks Tuesday, then returned Wednesday and Thursday. Can't beat it for 20 dollars playing the course by yourself. Course is in pretty darn good shape, greens were rolling very well no complaints. To finish my review, being from New Jersey it's hard to fathom only having to pay 20 dollars to play here. This quality at home is $80, it's hard to handle. But I will most certainly be back to cooks fun place!
I really like the challeng of the course
This course is in excellent condition and is pristine.
Course is in excellent shape much improved over last year.
Great Start by new Owner on Rehab
Great start by new Owners on Rehab of a great track. Nice Greens , Tees , & Fairways, Visible results on course clean up of old owners letting course go for many years. For all you players out there that want the best challenge for the money start patronizing this course so it can be great again.
Best course in Columbus area
Great layout, challenging yet enjoyable. Staff is always very friendly and family operated.
Cook's Creek is Back
I'm glad the Cook family took the golf course back. It's getting into great shape. The layout is perfect. Each hole is by it's self. The fairways and greens are in very good shape. The bunkers need some work which I'm told they are working to improve. The course has many tee options for all level of skill players. I really like this course and recommend it highly. A real value for the money, especially when it's on the Hot Deals list.
Terrific value!
Despite recent wet weather, course was well drained and played surprisingly firmly. Greens are in mid-season condition, and staff were warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!
It's back
Course is getting back to where it used to be. Greens were a little slow. Great layout.
The greens and fairways were in perfect mid-summer shape. Greens rolled true and had a good pace to them. Some bunkers did not have much sand in them, like most courses in Central Ohio it seems, but the ones that had sand were very good. A great value to play twilight after work. The only down side is the availability of tee times on golfnow. They have been a rare find so far at the start of the season.
Columbus Area favorite
Cooks Creek is in GREAT shape
The course is in great shape just a couple of small spots on 2 greens, bunkers need a little work. It is getting back to the shape it was in 5-6 years ago. This is a must play if you like a challenge to your game!!!!!
February Golf
This course has apparently been through he ringer in the past few years but from my first visit there, i think its almost all the way back to deserving of its high accolades in the past. The layout was great and we played the tips and i can say the layout is tremendous!! Glad to see John Cooks is back in control The only thing that i could notice was the rough had more than a few dead spots but thats the last thing i would want i would want a golf course on the comeback to put money into. For February the greens were rolling about a 9.5 and i can imagine midsummer having some putts that i would be trembling over and can easily see these rolling at the 11-13 range. Overall one of my favorite golf courses in Ohio.
