the elevated greens & tees with the narrow fairways & dog legs say you better pay attention . Play it longer then it says ,its all carry.

Leaves are everywhere. Lost 6 balls either in fairway or just in rough. Course was cart path only which should be disclosed before committing. As a resident of Crystal Springs I think all the course are over priced compared to others that are as good or better.

Played here for first time in a few years.
I didn't realize the course is so beautiful and layout is quite entertaining. But the greens were somewhat slower than I expected and bunker s had NO SAND which made it almost impossible to land and stop the ball from green side bunkers on to much elevated greens. Other than that, HotDeal on GolfNow is definitely worth it.

The fall foliage was in full bloom making a wonderful background for the rolling hills of Blackbear. Some of the fairways had quite a few leaves making it difficult to find the ball. But, it's that time of the year. Course was in great condition.

Saw it on Golfnow.com for 15 bucks so I couldn't resist it ! It was 48 degrees, windy and cold but the sun was bright so the rest didn't really bother me. Course was in very good shape for this time of year . Greens were SLICK - there weren't too many putts being left short ! First time I've played it in about 20 years because it's normally way too overpriced by the golf club but at Golfnow's prices I'LL BE BACK !

Beautiful views, friendly staff, and a nice course. I enjoyed myself and found the course to be not as difficult as I assumed. The bunkers are as hard as a rock, they should keep it soft and fresh. They didn't have a cleat cleaner. I get bothered by that, especially when they just cut the grass and it's wet out. Besides that overall this place is great and I will be returning. Usually I would have more to say about a course but I think this is one everybody will enjoy if the the round goes well.

Played on a Saturday morning with great golfing weather. Greeted by the staff upon arrival which does not happen often at other courses. They took my bag and put it on my cart and directed me to where the pro shop was to check in. The course is in wonderful condition after the little bit of rain we received. Greens were rolling great and the pace of play was spot on and we finished in our allotted 4 hours and 30 min. We were greeted by the player assistants on course to make sure our day was going well which was surprising since again most courses when a player assistant comes up to you it is to tell you that you are playing slow. Overall the day was fantastic and I would recommend to anyone to go and play Black Bear!

They stack everyone up with no gaps so the course backs up. Also as most courses are in the fall, they are doing serious aeration.

Not an "easy" course at all. Red offered a challenge but had its share of holes that allow for mid level players to feel comfortable too. We got s little bunched up at the end as a slow foresome backed up the group ahead of us, but we finished the track just before sundown. Overall the fairways were very nice. The greens needed to be better cared for especially since they made pin placements nearly impossible for this day ! If u have difficult pin placements, ur greens better be perfect to allow for precision putts.. That's my only real complaint.

I'd go back again and make sure it's an easier tee time to save the light.

Oh and the ranger by the 5th hole was SUPER friendly and I drove into the woods and lost my ball which he replaced as I passed by since he has a bunch he collected from around the course. That was very nice of him..

When we arrived at Black Bear, the entrance was beautiful, the pro shop staff was professional, the starter was knowledgeable and friendly, the course was in excellent condition (even though it had just been aerated!) and the pace of play was great....no complaints. It was before we got there that we had the problem! We made our reservation for the tee time through the GolfNow system and when we printed the receipt, we used the golf course address we saw there - it was the wrong address!!....it took us 20 minutes out of our way and 20 minutes back to the property. This caused us unnecessary concern because instead of arriving more than an hour before our tee time, with time to settle in and hit a few balls, we ended up rushing to sign in and barely made our tee time! It took us about three holes to settle down and really enjoy the course and game game!

the young man loading my clubs tried to pair me in a cart with a stranger . I like playing with new people but I don't care to ride in the same cart. He tried to tell me is was faster that way. I told him that has not been my experience. I asked the starter for my own cart and he said, "you want your own cart?" in an unfriendly tone of voice. He did give me one but they both seemed a little perturbed. The rangers were friendly though and I did enjoy my round.

I love this layout. Very interesting, elevation changes, the staff are friendly and the food and beverage choices are good. It's a good hour drive to Black Bear and a little above our normal green fees but 2-3 times per year we make the trek and usually have a great time. Here's the rub on this one though they took the booking and didn't let us know the greens had been punched not 5 days prior. It's not a lie but out of common decency the course should tell the customer that course is not in good shape.

Challenging course with elevation changes on some holes. Greens in great shape and also challenging. Very satisfied with course layout and condition. No so much with my score that day but always fun.

This is the second time in a row that my confirmed tee time was not the time that the course had. Once again the tee time at the course was later than confirmed. Why bother confirming a time if it gets changed at the course?

Course itself was in great shape but the round was 5.5 hrs. Way too long.

It is challenging course for me and lots of fun. I will come back again.

The management has made great strides in improving the conditions of this track. The course is very interesting to play but not for the 1st time the round was very slow.

five hour - wait on every tee - marshalls could have moved groups along - can't walk - tees far apart - view nice - conditions good - 19th hole excellent - staff very friendly

Staff was great the only problem with this course are the players no one seemed to fix there ball marks on the greens and that's were some of the other problems were apparent along with a few sand traps that were rock hard other than that the course was in great shape
