Slow Play!
Course was in fair shape, wet on several holes. Course took 6 hours to play! Was not notified a tourament was ahead of us. Need more ammenities on course (ie water buckets, or snack carts). Yardage markers need refreshing. Staffwas friendly.
I wouldn't play for regular price
I was able to play this coarse for 10 dollars, which anybody who golfs knows you can't beat that price. The coarse is usually around 30-35 dollars, which in that case I would not recommend this coarse! The conditions are 9 times out of 10 lousy! If you can't get a deal from golf now that is around 20 bucks, go somewhere else!
Overcrowding led to slow round
unbearably slow pace of play, they cram way too many golfers on this course and rangers do nothing but drive around and wave. Had to leave early (again). Won't be back, i've learned my lesson.
nice course
challenging yet fair course, nice layout, good price, fast round
Get what you expect
Minebrook is a very tight course and always has golfers on top of one another especially if someone hits an errant tee shot. However, the course has improved over the past couple of years with enhanced grounds-keeping although it isn't quite all fixed just yet. Overall, its a ok with nothing that'll make you gasp in appreciation with scenery or hole layout. All in all, it's a very plain course with a couple hills and bends, so keep the price cheap, but if you're hungry defiantly stop in the clubhouse for something to eat as the food is delicious.
Great greens but slow pace of play
Greens and most of course was in great shape but was ruined buy 5+ hours of play.
Never been? Don't bother.
First time at the course. They were very accommodating when we needed to fix our tee time.
But that's where the good news ends.
Knowing we were first timers at the course, we were never told of any policies or where to pick up our cart or even where the first tee was located.
We saw the carts and took one since the key was in. After trying to figure out where the first tee was we went back to the carts location where we met Dick. Apparently we had to sign for the cart first.
Many complain of groups being booked close to each other. So very true. Before we even teed off there was a group right behind our backs. At about the 6th hole we were on the fairway when Dick and another ranger said "you guys need to pick up the play. You should be here in 1.5 hours".
We weren't going to argue. But we were there in 1.5 hours, slowed down by a few groups in front of us.
We had to leave after 13 holes before if we stayed we would have been there close to 6 hours.
Overall, it's not a great place to play. It's ok. But that's all, it's ok.
ok But
the course was extremely dry. Several tees are relocated due to repairs and the 15th and 16th hole are under repair for major drainage improvements. Most fairways are tight and the course is pretty short, but is an enjoyable place to play.
Long day
The course put out groups much to close together making for an extremely long round. We left after the 14th hole. Tired of waiting a considerable time at every hole.
Mine brook
Course was nice layout. Good terrain. Was very wet. Water all over the fairways. Went on Saturday before fathers day so were waiting on almost every hole. But again it was Father's Day weekend. Would play again especially if I can get another $18 hot deal.
Nice layout
To many players on course. Pace of play terrible. Had to leave after 14 holes and 4.5 hrs of play.
Course has potential
Course is in rough shape (the rough needs cut, greens and fairways were very dry, some holes under construction, etc.). Also, the course layout was a bit non-traditional. Had a good time nonetheless, because it wasn't crowded and we weren't being pushed or had to wait. With the GolfNow discount, it only cost about $30 per person for greens fees and cart, so all in all, the value was good, despite the condition of the course.
Minebrook gc
Fun course that they are improving by adding new sod to tee boxes and parts of the fairways. Course holds water making some spots on course very wet or muddy.
Played Many Times Before
I've played here many times before living only 10 min away. Always found it to be a decent golf course for the price. The last time I played was not a good experience lost maybe 4 or 5 balls rolling off the fairway maybe 2 feet into the rough, I don't think they cut the rough at all. They had us cart path only on a par 5, the drainage was bad and it didn't rain in 3 days. There was ALOT of mud and tire tracks all over the fairways. I have played this course many times and have seen it in much better condition. I do not think that it is worth anywhere near the $55 I spent in this condition in the end of May early June.
tee boxes
the fairways except 15 and 16 were excellent and so were the greens ,however the tee boxes were a shambles very disappointing,it could be a great course but because of the tee boxes it isn't
Average
Typical public course. The course is below average.
Making substancial improvements
Overall much better then in the past. I see a lot of upgrades to the course, rebuilt tee boxes in the works, sand in the traps, tree clearing. By summer it will play very well.
Great Course for the cost.
I usually play in Sussex county, but every now and then find a great Golfnow deal. Minebrook was one of them and you could not beat the price. Even for regular cost the course is fun to play. It is a shorter course so play from the tips.
course needs some TLC
crowded for a Monday and tee time was a little late. course was quite wet even without rain for 3 days. numerous bunkers were nothing more than dirt and stones as sand replacement not completed. rough was set up for a US open (do they even mow it?). Other than the low cost of playing, would not go back here.
Poor Man's Flanders
The course plays much like the Morris County favorite except tighter and with smaller greens. A few doglegs make for interesting shot selections. However, the course was very wet with very thick rough and semi-long fairways which made approach shots more difficult then they needed to be on a course with a slope of 131 from the tips.
