Chippewa Golf Club
About
Established in 1926, Chippewa Golf Club in Curtice is one of the area's oldest courses. The course was designed by Toledo native Harold Weber, who was a four-time Ohio amateur champion and the city's first famous golfer. The layout has retained its traditional design and feel characterized by tree-lined fairways and small greens framed by strategically placed bunkers. In addition to the bunkers, there are two creeks that wind along the length of the golf course, coming into play on 15 holes. Golfers should be prepared for some tricky carries on the water holes. Though there are some holes that will make you think, Chippewa is a classic layout that players of all skill levels can enjoy. There are five sets of tees to make it even more approachable.

Nice turnaround!
I stayed away from this course for years after it fell into disrepair. The new owners have done a fabulous job with the course and amenities. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are some of the best around. They're priced competitively and offer specials all the time. Go play, you won't be disappointed.
1. greens are in excellent shape
2. staff is friendly and hard working- great service
3. nice wedge/chipping practice green and driving range
Course keeps improving
The course continues to improve. If you have not played here in the last 5 years, you need to come and give it a try. Shorter course but small greens add difficulty.
Most improved course
Years ago our golf league played here. Great layout horrible conditions. Layout is even better, perhaps the most challenging in Toledo. Nice fairways that are green with great tight lies. The rough is long and thick. This is country club like. The greens are fast true with lots of undulation. They are still a tad firm. I will definitely be back.
Chippewa in July
Solid course. Wonderful pace of play on the front and then ran into people on the back. Course was in great shape. Challenging but not overwhelming. It was a really good value, which was the biggest plus.
Chippewa golf course-a real gem!
I've played at Chippewa golf course in Ottawa County since I was a kid. Since the new owners took it over a few years ago they have made great changes to the golf course and improvements beyond my expectations . Historically it was some what of a pasture, (we nicknamed it Chipperock) and the greens were like frog hair always slow as molasses . I played there yesterday, (with lowered expectations), and I must say it was fantastic! The greens were fast and rolled true as true! The tee boxes were all superb as well with 5 sets of boxes. They also have fixed all the bridges over Ayers and Crane creeks. They've also added new bunkers strategically placed on holes that were once benign and void of any eye candy. Needless to say I was thoroughly impressed and I can't wait to play Chippewa golf course again and it now gets my highest recommendation.
Slow
I was a single golfer cruising along. I golf often alone, and can usually finish a round in under 2 hours. Had a good pace until the 11th hole where I came up to the slowest foresome I have ever seen. These guys refused to let me play through, and there was no ranger anywhere to control the pace of play. I finally just quit my round at the 16th hole, in total frustration, as I was approaching a 4 1/2 hour round with still 2 holes to go. I have never played here, nor will I probably ever again!
One of my regulars
I play here 5-10 times a season. It is in good condition. The rough is a little high but fairways and especially the greens are in real good shape. Greens rolling very nice. I am working on getting better off the tee with the driver so this course is good for that. The course has its share of trees and water but is open enough to be forgiving when working on the driver. We got a hot deal so paid just over $16 each so a very good deal. Overall it's a challenging course and in great shape...
Must Have Been Beginners Day
Really a slow round behind people who likely weren't aware of course etiquette that would allow faster players to go through. I'm not a very good golfer but I don't waste time.
For Toledo: Solid
A course that is trying really hard to be nice. Gotta hand it to em, they've done everything they can to create fun topography in flat Toledo. Fun course, cheap, nice carts.
Great course for casual golf
November golf (Golfnow.com special). Course condition and layout was good (no tight fairways). Cups needed to be changed. Par 3s were the best challenge. Would play again. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Chippewa Golf Club
Very nice electric golf carts, nice cart paths, very well layout of the course and course still sucks. The greens were extremely dry and they recently just verticut them so that didn't help out the trueness of them at all. Fairways were longer than expected. I am a college golfer who played the round with my cousin who is also a college golfer. We have played many nice courses in our college careers and this did not compete with any of them. When I checked out the website, the course looked pretty nice so I thought let's give it a try but it was the total opposite when we got there. If they were to keep up with the greens and keep the fairways at a tighter length then this course would definitely compete with a lot of courses around the area.
Diamond in the rough.
I really knew nothing about this course when I booked a tee time. All I knew was I wanted to play it because it was close to my father's house. I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled into the parking lot. I saw a very well-established course built in 1926. The fairways were plush although they needed cut. Greens were cut a little too short but still rolled true and fast. The rough was nice and thick. The clubhouse was well kept and staff was very friendly. I would recommend this course to everyone.
