Delaware Golf Club
About
Delaware Golf Club sprawls across rolling countryside that lends an idyllic and secluded setting. Donald Ross designed the original nine holes in 1922 and they were later joined by a second nine designed by Michael Hurzdan in 1998. The layout meanders through wooded valleys and ravines. The rolling fairways are fairly wide but they are lined with mature trees and bunkers heavily guard the small, undulating greens. There are also water hazards that come into play on a number of holes. Delaware Golf Club's second hole is notably challenging, it is arguably the toughest hole on the front nine. This par-4 requires not only accuracy in order to avoid the ravine on the left but also distance to carry the lake and remain in the angled fairway. Golfers will be faced with one of the most difficult putts on the golf course if their approach finds the wrong side of the green.

Great Day and course
I was able to book a tee time the day before and was able to get off before an outing started. The course was in good condition and the weather was great. Keep up the good work!
Great course
Alwsys in great condition and arguably the nicest public course in central Ohio.
Great course with challenging layout
Greens were firm and rolled well. Rough was long enough it made you have to try to hit fairways. Great challenge for the casual golfer
Markers
Cart paths are not very well marked leading to confusion to which way to go. Also sand traps only have one rake per trap, Need at least 2, too much time wasted but as st all courses players don’t bother.
pretty nice course
all in all a good round but a foursome with 2 walking playing very slow and falling almost 3 holes behind and not offering a much faster twosome to play thru and no ranger out there checking pace of play
Awesome Place
I played the front 9 on a Wednesday morning. The staff were helpful and welcoming and even followed up on how play was after the round. The course was a balance of beauty and difficulty. It was a wonderful course to play for the first time. I’ll definitely be back for the back 9!
AVOID DELAWARE IF YOU LIKE FAIR ( and NONSANDY) GREENS
Having played several dozen courses and hundreds of rounds over the past 30 years of golf, I can safely say that the greens at Delaware GC today were probably the worst that I have ever played in any round, with only one or two other legitimate contenders for the crown. From the first green there was PLENTY of sand on every green, though at least on the first handful of there was a member of the grounds crew smoothing things out. Around hole 8 they just gave up.
And that’s where the greens went from being unfair to borderline (and I use the term generously) unplayable on the last 10-11 holes. Think putting on a sand covered parking lot, especially if putting downhill. The greens were not breaking true at all and balls we’re sliding off the green or scooting much farther past the hole than they deserved to, and it only got worse as the round progressed.
The grounds crew cleaned that the sand was due to “helping to keep the greens healthy”, though what they know that I or 99% of the other courses I’ve played don’t about maintaining greens in normal to slightly above rainfall with no disease on the greens and during prime growing season I have zero clue. No doubt they've forgotten more about maintaining a golf course than I’ll ever know but what purpose having massive amounts of sand on literally every green (to the extent that it literally ruins the fairness, if not the playability, of the greens) serves I would truly love to know.
It’s a shame because with remotely decent greens this a nice, though not exactly exceptional, layout. Everything else about the course was fine. It’s tough but fair from tee to green. Once you hit the green though, all bets are off. A couple of holes on the back 9 (looking at you, 12 & 17) have tee boxes in needlessly punitive locations but whatever. Personally I would avoid this course unless I heard from a reliable source that the sand on the greens is no longer an issue.
Solid Golf Course
I visited from FL during Memorial Week and Delaware CC is always a Must play when I’m in town……2 very different nine holes with a variety of hills and valleys, which gives Delaware some Unique character!
Interesting to me that you have 30 years of golf experience and you have never played on a green that was top dressed. The sand is to keep the greens healthy. I was spectating this situation from a far. You decided to put 3 giant divots into the 18th green with your putter out of frustration and that is not a very mature way to handle a situation.
