The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

Nice layout and course. Challenging. Traps needed sand prepared better. Some hard some washed out Overall great value. Just steer clear of bunkers!
great evening of golf: FIrefox Players Course
The summer in central Ohio was tough and many courses, including this one, show it. While the bunkers are less than desirable, the greens and fairways are in good shape. The greens are quick and there is plenty of water! I play golf 2-3 times a week on public and private layouts and this course is a gem. Very challenging layout. It has fairly narrow fairways, some blind tee shots, and the occasional unknown tee shot yardage, but I really enjoyed this course. Playing it more than once would definitely lower the stroke average!
Good and bad
Like so many courses in Ohio, this course is not what it used to be. We ended playing every bunker as ground under repair. They have n. They just don't have the money to maintain them - they need to sod most of them over - no shame in that. Clubhouse is bare bones as far as merchandise. Cart paths are in disrepair. That being said, the greens were in great shape. Fairways were good, tee boxes in decent shape. Challenging layout. Compared to the few courses left, Foxfire is a decent value and hopefully they will make it.
Golf
The pace of play was slow. Goose droppings everywhere on greens and tee boxes. All the bunkers were either under water or solid mud, not playable. No water on course, either.
Players Club going downhill
One of the most challenging & difficult courses in Columbus that is highlighted by Holes 15, 16, & 17. This course is a strong test for experienced golfers. I regard this course as one of the elite courses in central Ohio. However, I was extremely disappointed in its current condition. Not a single bunker had been raked for play on Labor Day and nearly every bunker had standing water & mud! Very disappointing for a course of this reputation. Many dead/dying trees need cut down.
Excellent
Wonderful course. Excellent condition. Difficult play. Not the easiest course I have ever played which teamed with the excellent condition makes this one of my favorite courses.
great and bad
the course was excellent and extremely challenging. the course was very clear for us until about 7th hole and we let two singles pass us on back to back holes. the only bad came when a thunderstorm popped up and rained us out of the back nine. i'm in hopes we can get a rain check for the back nine...the course mgr already stipulated to me that he would vindicate our claim.
Tough greens
Some tee boxes were in rough shape. Green #2 and #14 need cleaned badly (geese drooping s everywhere). Play this course couple times a year. Greens were quick. Some very wet areas and some bunkers were more dirt and rock then sand. Still love it here.
One of my Favs
What can I say? Beautiful course with some birdie holes and some real ball-breakers (literally and figuratively). When you score well, you feel you have accomplished something.
Nice course, great price
Course was in great shape . Greens rolled true. Water in play and tight fairways on back nine provide excellent challenge.
Great Value!
Course is in very good condition. Greens are nice and true and rolling pretty fast. Some trap are thin and most have dirt instead of sand but they're mostly playable. Also played about 5 holes on the Foxfire course and it's much nicer than I remember from many years ago. I would recommend playing both courses!
Wise's first visit
Wonderful lay out very challenging course a must play course!
Good value
The course can be challenging with a lot of water and traps in play. The traps were more like mud pits than sand traps, though. The play was slow also. We had to wait for the group ahead of us on almost every hole. The rough is truly rough and the back nine is narrow. Overall, I really enjoyed the course and will definitely go back again.
Great course, traps need a lot of work
I have not played the Players Club in several years. I remember it fondly and took a couple of friends who had never played the course. We all three agreed that it is in very good condition and a challenging course. We also agreed that the traps are in very poor condition- almost no sand in any of them. They really need to take care of the traps and then once again it will be considered on of the top courses in central Ohio.
Tee Times run way behind
I was really excited to play this course and was considering a membership for next year. When I arrived, the pro shop said everything was running on time. We went to first tee to find four groups waiting to take the tee box. We finally stated 35 minutes after our tee time. The entire round was terribly slow, which is fine for Saturday but this was extra slow. Every bunker had standing water and was unplayable. Also, the group behind us on the front was hitting into us on every fairway and green and thought they were somehow playing with us. Luckily we let them pass us at the turn. All-in-all, it is safe to say that I will NEVER play this course again!
Good, but tough, course
The course has a cool layout and was in very good condition. The pace of play was a little slow, but that is to be expected during the middle of the day on Saturday. The copious amounts of water and sand traps, along with fairly narrow fairways, makes for a challenging round of golf for anyone who isn't consistently accurate. I would definitely recommend the course and will look forward to playing it again.
Be on your game
A gem just south of Columbus. For the money this course can't be beat , if you're looking to play a great layout give this course a try
Top 10 Columbus Courses
I've been to Foxfire 5 times so far, and every one I have had a great time. The course is challenging, but not too difficult. The place is kept in great condition, and has some of the best greens in the Columbus area.
Some areas can get mucky with heavy rain, but what course doesn't?
Slow Play Hurts
Day turned ugly right from the start. On beautiful morning, there was about 20 minute delay in starting, no explanation other than lost of golfers. Starter was not managing the first teed very well. Then slow play commenced right from the first hole. Waited on every shot. Figured out by about 5th hole that group two in front of us was very slow. They were about a hole behind the group in front of them by the sixth hole. Tried to get ranger at half way house but never showed up. 4 hr round took 5.5 hrs. Other golfers went by us on 17th tee saying they were done due to slow play. Need rangers on the course to speed up play. Not likely to return soon.
