The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

Great course
Beautiful course. Made me cry. 14, 15 & 16 you need to walk single file up the fairway. Haven't played in a while. Will definitely be back when I can afford another 2 dozen golf balls.
Front is very pretty...back is tight and narrow
Loved the course! Front is very nice but challenging. Back is pretty and VERY tight...almost unfair on some holes. Overall 5 stars and look forward to playing again.
Fun Layout to Play!!!
I have always enjoyed the challenge at the Players Club. The day before we got an 1" of rain. that made the bunkers washed out and cart path only. The greens were good, however a little slow. Overall the course needs a little TLC!
Not like I remembered...
I don't know why this is new trend, but it seems like maintaining the bunkers is a thing of the past, even at the upper tier courses. To be fair to this course, I did play it the day after heavy rainfall, and there was a lot of standing water in the bunkers, but it sure seemed to me that the bunkers hadn't been attended to for quite some time. I've played many different courses this season, and most are neglecting the bunkers. I don't know if this is a money saving issue or what, but it's frustrating at the least. Cart path only was also annoying, but I guess I understand that one because of the rain the day before
What the heck happened? Dog track!
This course has some great holes and has a decent level of difficultly but the course conditions are deplorable! From burnt out fairways and greens to chewed up uneven tee boxes. The staff is not that welcoming and the carts were filthy had not been hosed off In several rounds in my I play a lot of golf and played a lot of tracks this year but foxfire the players club is easily in the worst condition off any course I have played this year I know one player that will care not to join the club! Please do not waste your money!
A couple good holes
Played the course a couple years ago the course was in great shape, now the course needs a lot of help. There are a lot of courses around that are cheaper that are in much better shape.
Not good conditions.
Not good conditions. Lot of ball marks. Rough is not rough, it is weeds. No ranger to maintain pace. Halfway house does not take credit cards.
Great course for the money
It has been years since I played the Players Club and I really enjoyed the course. There were some challenging holes but overallthe course was very fair and there were no hidden hazards.
the course has some tough but fun holes
The course is a good challenge for anyone who enjoys the game of golf. If your not hitting the driver very well leave it in the bag on some of the holes. Holes 14 15 & 16 r holes u have to hit it straight off the tee. Those 3 holes are a wonderful challenge. I would recommend this course to anyone out there. If you read this sign up to play the Players Club course at Foxfire and enjoy a great round of golf.
Multiple risk-reward decisions makes this course fun.
Fairways in great shape. Well-kept, undulating greens that reward good shots and challenges poor shots. Un-repaired ball marks reflect on the golfers rather than the grounds crew. Traps had standing water from recent rains, but that was expected.
This course has great features
Course was good condition and very nice course. I like this course.
This course has great features
Course is very good condition and very good design.
Enjoyed very much, especially variety of hole design.
Really enjoyed the course even though it was very wet and CPO. Nice variety of holes and interesting shots. Two thumbs up!
Excellent!
Great course, challenging links style first 9 then narrow heavily wooded back nine that you better be on your game! Awesome!
one of the greats
This course is great. From beginning to end. It opens with a wide open par 4 and the journey begins. And when I say the Devil awaits, lol. 14, 15, 16 will have you scratching your head wondering why did I use that club. This is a must play course.
Bunker's Need Help
Overall the course was is adequate shape, the bunker's however were not. Some needed sand added, some looked as if they had been plowed and some were is very fine shape. I would play the course again without question, but the bunkers should be addressed by the staff.
Awesome course
The bunkers need alot of attention in very poor shape. Guess I should have just stayed out of them
Recommend for good players
Challenging course. Front nine is manageable, back 9 gets vicious. Absolutely beautiful and pristine conditions.
Holes 14, 15 and 16
These holes (14,15,16) are unfair to the average golfer, there is no way
you can get thru them in even par. very difficult.
Overpriced
If the driving range had been open, I would have given 4 stars. Had the tee boxes from the back tees been in better condition, I might give it 4.5 stars. The driving range being closed is my biggest complaint. How can you not have your driving range ready the week before Memorial Day? Inexcusable. The course itself is a nice layout. The first three holes were average, but then the holes get a little more challenging and more enjoyable. I loved the holes around the turn. The sand traps on some of the holes were dried out and hard as a rock. But the greens were in good condition and the fairways were too for the most part. The cart paths need to be redone. I will be back once the driving range is open.
