The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

Foxfire players course
Tee boxes and sand traps were in awful condition. Fairways and greens were fair. Hot dogs and beer were the best at the halfway house. Electric carts are better than gas in my opinion. Overall, wasn't a bad play, but difficult to justify the drive for just a mediocre course.
Fall Day at Players
Great weather day for November and a great course. We took advantage of sunny fall day to play a well maintained course with tight narrow fairways, where bogies (and doubles) were plentiful than pars, and birdies were so close, but no cigars. The course was in excellent shape with the exception of the bunkers, although this was understandable for the time of year. We raked up the bunker each time we had a bunker shot and surprising was able to get out without too much of a problem. It was a very enjoyable round even though we did not score well. The narrow fairways made accuracy a premium over distance. Great course, would definitely recommend it.
Awesome layout
Beautiful course. Great layout. Bunkers needed attention but it is fall and the end of the season. Price was reduced accordingly. Would love to go back inb the summer. Friendly staff. Played 36 holes since we liked it so much.
Beautiful
Lots of open water on the front and very tight tree lines on the back. Very well kept for this late in the season.
Great course challenges all aspects
Love this course! Some fairways very narrow and the greens have difficult undulations. Course is in excellent condition and makes you work hard physically and mentally to shoot a good score. We had a twosome in front of us that played a little slower at times and we had to wait on 3 holes to hit our approach shots while the maintenance crew to finish cutting the greens. Overall it was a great round and the staff is super friendly!
Course is suffering
This used to be on of the top public courses around, but it has slipped quite a bit. Greens were OK, but the tee boxes, fairways and rough were full of weeds and crabgrass. The bunkers were just dried out dirt. I was disappointed in the condition.
No longer a great course
Yes, the course remains a challenging and fun layout. It has some of the most difficult holes in Central Ohio, so its a very good test of your skills. That has not changed. However, the overall condition of the course has gone downhill. This is probably why the greens fee with cart is down to $35, and a mid morning tee time on Friday was available on a days notice.
The fairways and greens were in decent shape. The greens were fast and rolled pretty well, and ball marks were as expected for a public course. The sand traps and tee boxes are awful. The traps must get redone or this once great course will continue to lose customers. The tee boxes were horrible. This course is priced right at $25, but it's just a shame.
Course great, Other things Eh
First time playing this course. Was recommended by my father. So we made the one hour drive for a 7:30 tee time. The course was in great condition, the greens were semi - smooth and the rough was a little thick. The one thing that got me was pace of play. We played in 4.5 hours, not bad but not great, we were a twosome by the way. One foursome let us through on the second hole, but the foursome in front of them wouldn't let us pass. We were on their tails from the 4th hole. It was ridiculous because they weren't even caught up with the group in front of them. The range finally showed himself on 17 and proceeded to tell my friend and I "We do not really allow faster groups to play through. It just causes a whole bunch of problems. " This is a strange statement because on the scorecard says that slower groups are supposed to let faster groups play through. Needless to say, neither of us will be going back. Great course, but they need to get a better head on their ranger and whoever makes the rules.
On a lighter note, the cart girl was the best part of the round. She was nice and courteous and truly cared about our wellbeing and tried to get a ranger to speed the other group up (that was on 13).
This course not as nice
This course is overpriced for the condition it is in. The tee boxes are weed covered and bare in areas. The pace of play is ridiculous. It took 6 hours to play 18 holes. I thought pro golfers are on tv. I was disappointed because this course was one of my favorites.
Play Players
Course was in good shape, although the tee boxes could be in better condition. Very demanding challenge. Three of the par 3's are over water. Tight back nine. Bring your A game for this one. I loved it and going back to better my score. Nothing boring about this course no matter how often it's played.
good round
The course was in good shape. This was the lowest amount I have ever paid for this course. Thanks golf now, thanks foxfire.
Pay attention to the bunkers
The course was in good shape other than the bunkers. This is the third time I have played The Players Club this year and every time the bunkers were awful. Fix the bunkers and you have a winner.
Top 5 best public courses
Very tough course from the tips! Fairways on some holes are extremely narrow thus adding to the challenge the course has to offer! Greens were well maintained and fast when I visited. Overall the course exceeded my expectations!
great, tough course
I've played Foxfire many times, but never tried The Player's Club before. What a great course, lots of excellent, tough holes! Excellent condition and big tough greens that rolled as true as anywhere I've seen locally! Brian is always nice and helpful! A little pricey for me (and a bit too tough!) but will certainly go back!
Very Challenging but fair. Great layout
Very short drive from central ohio. Mature course with plenty of separation between holes. A couple of interesting par 4's that tempt drive attempt, given the right conditions.
Fair
The course was in good condition other than the bad geese problem on holes where water is in play. There was no mention of the halfway house being closed on the turn and the cart girl rarely comes around so if you like to grab a bite to eat on the turn bring food with you. The pace was very slow as 3 foursomes groups would not allow my twosome to play threw. Overall decent course but wouldn't recommend it unless you can get on for very cheap.
Great Course
Great golf course to play. In excellent condition and very challenging. If your hungry you're not getting much more than a candy bar or hotdog. Also staff allowed a 2 some and a 1 some tee off behind us within 15 minutes. Causing us to rush for a few holes before letting both play through.
What’s happened?
This was once without a doubt one of the best public courses in all Ohio. I drive an hour to get to ti and it is worth it. would tell my friends the same thing. Not anymore. Paid $39 which is a good deal. More like $29. Tee boxes in terrible shape and some fairways very stressed. Greens rolled okay but are very chewed up with divots. I will not be back here anytime soon till they improve the conditions. Is it the economy? Driving the other direction now. Chapel Hill or Apple Valley, here I come!
Quite Disappointed
I always considered the Players Club to be one of the top courses in the Columbus area. I played this weekend and was very disappointed in the condition of the course. The greens were chewed up, bumpy enough to redirect several putts. The tee boxes were rock hard, the 18th tee box is a garden of chickweed and parts of the fairway were littered with dead spots. Some of the bunkers were unplayable as well.
The condition of the course didn't add up to the $39 greens fee. I'll give it a year and see if the course puts money into course improvements. If they aren't, then lower the rates.
Not even worth $30...
Well the course was in about $25 round conditions and worst part of our round wasn't the conditions it was the fact the OWNER I SAY THE OWNER HAD NOT 1 but 2 5 somes with a 4 some in front of them out playing in the middle of the day on a Sunday. So what should've taken my 2 sum 4 hours it took like 5.5 hours to play and there was no coutesy for slow play to let us play threw. Terrible I mean terrible experience for course I was so lookin forward to playing...
