The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

Players club-very good
Excellent setup-very tight on the back-fairways r in great shape-greens were soft and pins were accessible but challenging.- many workers were hard at work to clear and clean up sand traps and clear areas around the rough. Will definitely play some more in the future
Nice layout but the course needs some work
You can tell this course used to be very nice unfortunately like many courses affected by the economy the upkeep has been a little disappointing The fairways were very nice and well watered the rough was fair, the tee boxes definitely needed some work as did many of the sand traps. My playing partners and I definitely liked the layout of this course it was very challenging; it made you think about your shots on several of the holes it is just too bad that the sand traps and the tee boxes were not in better shape.
Great Course and Pro
This is an outstanding course. Front nine was tough enough, now they have added high grass in the bail-out area of the short par 5 which makes an accurate tee shot more challenging. Holes 8 and 9 and 10 are very difficult but 12-16 are crazy. (My buddies and I call them "amen corner" because if your tee shot is not in the fairway then you are probably in the woods. Brian the Pro is very personable and hospitable for the golfers. The only negative that I would mention is that some of the sand traps could have been raked out better, but that is a problem that I am seeing with most of the courses this year. Maybe it is the rain?
Recession Pains?
This course was bar none the nicest on the southside. But post Pinnacle CC, they have let it go. The bunkers need redone, most were full of water or had standing water in them. The grass surround the no longer looked fertilized, and some of the fairways were very chewed up. The day we played it looked as if they hadnt moved the tee boxes in a week, as you could barely find a nice spot to tee from. And it was a Saturday morning. There were three groundsmen working on one wet bunker, but the rest were very dissapointing. Guess thats why there price has went from $50+ to the $30s.
Great Layout - Good Conditions
Players Club at Foxfire is one of the better layouts in Columbus public courses. Very good mix of challenging and scoring holes. The greens were in good shape when we played, rolling pretty quick. Fairways and bunkers were pretty good too. The tee boxes were a little rough, as it seems like they keep the markers in similar places for too long. Biggest complaint is the practice range is a cow pasture and the practice green is a different speed than on the course. Overall a good course in nice shape.
Great Time
One of the best courses in central OH. The course was in great condition. we played early so we moved right around.
Value and fun factor
Have played many times and will go back again. Tee boxes need a little attention. Fun round of golf.
Average Experience
The course was fairly challenging, the front nine features a lot of water and some pretty demanding shots off the tee.
One problem we had was pace of play, I was in a foursome (with one guy who was pretty new to the game), and the staff told us to speed up. We'd been picking up balls to stay on pace if one was shanked too. King of annoying.
Great fun
Overall great course for money. Tends to b a bit wet and cart paths need repair. Enjoyed the pace of play. Halfway house was closed but beverage girl was around frequently
Not what I expected to see
Although I had a great time playing the course, there were a couple things that threw me for a loop... One would be all of the dead fish in the water. I don't think anyone wants to see that after getting food at the halfway house. The other thing was the presentation of a few holes where the grass was cut way to short and there was just a bunch of dead grass laying on the course. After seeing those things I was kind of turned off by the cost to play ($45) especially after driving a hour to get there. Other than those two things, I would say it's a nice course.
Out of the Way, fun course.
I played here for the first time ever and I was a bit concerned as we were heading to the course with such mixed reviews on this course, but my friend and I were both pleasantly surprised with the condition and play-ability of this course.
The pace of play was great! I really enjoyed the layout of the course and it can be at times a very challenging course it is not ridiculous. The greens are TOUGH and you really wanna be within about 8 feet to have any chance at sinking a putt.
The front nine has some great holes with a decent amount of water as buddy find out all too often. I REALLY enjoyed this course and the staff and will be back again very soon!
Solid course minus the bunkers
I enjoyed the round at The Players Club at Foxfire. The staff was fantastic and the course we in good shape with the fairways and greens well maintained. The bunkers, however, were a different story. Perhaps it was the recent rains, but several bunkers were more or a sand/mud mixture than sand.
Conditions are amazing!!
Greens and fairways are in amazing shape!!! I am looking forward to playing it again real soon!
Good and bad
Some really neat holes on the front, especially around water.
Unfortunately the bunkers were in terrible shape, there were no water jugs on the course, and there were two dumb back to back par 5s with overhanging branches-- even in the fairway trees were an issue.
Great fairways and greens.
The greens and fairways were in excellent conditions. The course also has a wonderful and challenging layout. One complaint is that there are no ball cleaners thru out the course. Some of the hole signs were missing. I believe it should not be like this for the $45 it cost me to play the course. The staff was friendly at this visit but have been kind of rude during other visits to the fox fire course.
Tough course
Course was in great shape really challenging, a few really narrow holes, lots of water but the pace of play was soooo slow big group of walkers slowed everything down.
Good value
I played in early March, so the course wasn't up to its normal standard, but that's expected this time of year. Considering the harsh winter, the course was in good shape.
This course is always one of my favorites -- fair but challenging, requires you to think your way around the course, and accessible to good scores if you play well. Friendly staff, too. I've always enjoyed this course.
windy day but fun
This track will separate average players from good players.. Fairways are a must if u want to score.
Cold and Challenging
Overall, we had a good time. We played during the off-season, since my buddy was in town from out of town so it was on the cold side (about 45 degrees) and if you went off of the fairway, it could be hard to find your ball with the leaves. Since, it was the off-season, we had the course to ourselves. The majority of the sand traps were unplayable, which is par for the course in November. The course is certainly on the challenging side, so birdies and pars were hard to come by. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for a challenge.
Good fun course and very challenging.
Course was in really good condition for this time of year. Lots of water on the front nine and many narrow holes on the back making good drive placement a must. Really liked the course.
