Fox Creek Golf & Racquet Club

About
Located just 30 miles west of Cleveland, FoxCreek Golf and Racquet Club is one of the best golf courses in Lorain County. The layout has a classic design with a shorter length and forgiving fairways. The terrain is hilly, which provides the most challenging elements of the course from the rolling undulations to the elevated tees and greens. You'll encounter numerous doglegs as well as a few blind approaches. The postage stamp-sized greens can be especially tricky. They are faster than they seem and have subtle breaks where you wouldn't expect. From the back tees, the golf course will test even the most seasoned golfer, however, FoxCreek has a nice balance of tough and player-friendly holes with plenty of variety. Your score will depend more on how creatively you utilize your shot making skills rather than on sheer strength or distance.

Hot day at the Fox Creek
Surprisingly dry after so much rain ...greens OK & rough thick (but no lost balls). Holes #3 & 17 have to be some of the toughest in Lorain Cty. One odd thing is ProShop does't open till 10am, so there were about 20p bangin' door down. GN Hot Deals is excellent opportunity to play this old Lorain Country Club, a tough track with more than half the holes w/water hazards. All depending on High Tides whether this course is playable or not, but this day was dry & fun with the retiree Members.
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE
Had a tee time at 10am, course wasnt open and there was a line out the door. Come to find out they were members so my tee time would have been pushed back behind all them. Then come to find out only 9 holes were open on the course...waste of time, wont be back and Golfnow shouldn't honor this course anymore...had to cancel and find some where else to play after driving from Cleveland
CLOSED
I arrived at the course prior to my tee time and they were CLOSED. Doors were locked and I need a refund now. I understand this might have not been GolfNow’s fault but I should have been notified prior to showing up.
Fox creek golf
Golf did not happen course was closed due the being to wet
I hope to get credit to my credit card
Fox Creek ----40yrs after Lorain CC
I remember when the LCC had more money for much better conditions, course & clubhouse area. The layout is still tough, and spring weather is not easy onthis course in a bowl less than a mile off Lake Erie. Water hazards on at least 13holes, and nice elevation changes from tee to greens. No roll on this soft course, and I was short of greens all day; good thing I can chip & putt. The greens were slow, but you can't complain because of recent weather. #3 might be one of toughest holes in Lorain Cnty., and you gotta keep ball in fwy throughout the course. Thanx to GN for Hot Deals, but I'll be back sometime this summer, just to get some roll-outs.
Tough track
First time playing this course, heard it was usually wet...but the course was in great shape, and grass freshly cut...Back 9 had a few bare spots where a new drainage system was installed, so the grass just need to grow back over it.
Extremely challenging course with the dog legs and elevation changes, hitting into a few small greens...
If I had one complaint, the greens were a little slow today....but I will definitely be back, well worth the 30 min drive from Cleveland
Classic Course Incredible Value
This is a great course. Layout, great greens. Best value I have ever played. We will be back when it so wet. Great day.
The starter was very unpleasant. Ruined my day. I will never play there again!!!
I booked a tee time on GolfNow to play with my buddy who had a rain check. When we got to the course the starter told me I was assigned to tee off with a single and a 2some. I said no problem but I have a buddy with me too. The starter said it was a strict course rule that any players who book with golf now have to play with each other. If I wanted to golf with my buddy I had to pay full price. I sugggested that he let the first group go off in 2 and we will play 3. Same amount of carts either way. After much discussion and raising of some voices and the 2some teeing off without us anyway. The starter made my buddy tee off the back 9 so there was no way we could play together. This course is in a very low lying area and is very wet for most of the golf season. I would like to think that the course would be happy just to have people playing during the 2 months a year that it is enjoyable. Instead I was alienated for booking my tee time with GolfNow and had a very unenjoyable experience dealing with the management of the course. Golf is supposed to be fun. That day it was not. I will never go back there again, and neither will the other 4 people that were in my group. I hope the people who run GolfNow see this review and also give a negative mark to this course
New weekend rates are great! $25 for 18/cart.
Good to see an owner that puts money back into improving course ! This course has come up with improvements every year.Somebody needs to get after golfers not repairing their ball marks on the greens. Challenging but fun to play!
Thank you for your review! We're excited you've noticed the improvements we've made this year and can't wait to have you back for another round of golf!
Sincerely,
Fox Creek Golf Staff
RUDE!
If you want to treated like garbage, play here. I couldn't believe how rude they were in the proshop. Played 7 of the holes with the sprinklers on. I understand now why there wasn't anyone there. Saw 4 or 5 groups of really old people walking, but that was about it. They were probably rude to so many people that no one wants to go back.
Didn't like it
Now I like a challenge but I just found it kind of a drag that many greens were super elevated. It just seemed kind of rinky dink to me. I am about a 9 handicap but it just seemed like they tried to come up with ways to make the hole harder. I wasn't much of a fan. Also, I found the front desk staff to be less than cordial. There are just too many choices for good prices in this area to go back here.
Make sure you wear waterproof shoes
The course is in great shape but they're watering during play which makes it very hard to hit approach shots because the sprinkler heads are up and their watering every fairway while your playing even at noon bottom line if you like playing in wet grass its great if you like grass like me but not watering during play it sucks
Rain
Everything was going good,we never finished it rain tooo hard
Great time
Course was in great shape
Greens were lighting fast and held really good.
course was in great shape
The course was in great shape, even though we have not had much rain in a couple of weeks. Will hopefully play there again next week.
needs improvement
I was a little disappointed in the course but did enjoy the day. Thank you
Play this course!
It's been 2 years since I played this course. There was a noticeable difference of improvement in course condition. Fairways were in good shape and the greens were in excellent shape. Certain spots the rough was difficult to get out of as expected. Lots of elevation shots. Challenging course that my friends and I will be back to play soon. Bring your "A" game!
Fox
The course was in great shape with the exception of the greens. They were recently aerated and we're still sandy and slow. I think the course should be telling prospective players about the aeration prior to booking a time. Great pace of play and friendly staff.
great course well maintained
The course was in very good shape, even though the greens were recently aerated and fresh sand applied they were still in good condition. The fairways had very few bare patches or divots, overall very good condition.
Thank you for the review! We're excited you had a fantastic time and we can't wait to see you again.
Sincerely,
