Brown's Run Country Club
About
Brown's Run Country Club in Middletown offers a championship layout that stretches to just over 6,830 yards. The team of William and Brian Gordon, brothers who have designed more than 85 golf courses all over the U.S., designed Brown's Run in 1958. It has a classic layout that is gentle enough for beginners, but it is an enjoyable round no matter what skill level. There are a few strategically placed sand traps throughout the golf course, which make up for the absence of water. The design is pretty straightforward although there are a few slight doglegs to watch out for. In addition to the challenging but playable design, the course boasts some of the finest fairways and greens in the area. Brown's Run also offers other amenities including an Olympic-size pool and four lighted tennis courts.

Really nice
Really enjoyed this course, most of the course was in great shape, couple of tee boxes were pretty rough but that was ok

Great lay out. The course in late summer condition, even though first week of October.
Tee boxes aerated, but overall, would definitely play again.
With Covid, would be not be fair to judge off-course amenities.
Browns Run
I want to give the review as bad so none else will play there, but I can't. best secret courses around
Get what you pay for
Tees were awful - fairways were suspect - greens were good - greens may be the only thing they are watering
Lots of brown grass
Played this course several times before, it is a good layout. The greens were slightly above average, but the tees were nearly dead and many brown stressed areas in fairways. If we had known these conditions existed we never would have played here. Not worth $40 in this condition.
Nice Layout - Overpriced
Love the layout and walker friendly. Greens are good but course is in rough shape. $55 is asking a lot in this condition. Also, they charge the same whether waking or riding, which makes no sense to me.
Will be a GEM, again!
Fairways, tees, and some rough is burnt-out but course is still beautiful. Give yourself a break and play with lie improvement. Greens were fantastic in comparison. Can't wait for this classic to get back to what it should be. They're working hard out there to fix it!
Plugging along
Not aware that course was being aeriated fairways hard to hit off
Not worth the money
Tee boxes where just dirt, fairway & greens where in horrible shape. First & last time playing this course.
Quick and relaxing
Very few players at the time that I played. Course in good condition considering no rain in a month or so. Greens are tricky but enjoyable.
Solid course
First time playing. Like most reviews say it could use some
TLC but we still enjoyed it. There isn’t any “ signature holes “ but all the holes are legit and fun to play.
Loved the course
Course had a great layout, great course for beginners and novice golfers. Loved the course will be back again.
Rough Shape
Had been there several times as a spectator watching my kids play high school matches there and was always impressed. That said, when we pulled in the lot, it just seemed “rubbed down.” The first tee was completely void of grass and the rest weren’t much better. Luckily, most of the greens were decent, I’d still go back but hoping they get a handle on things soon!
Good first time course
This was a great course to get a quick nine in on a Sunday evening. Pace of play was great. Played the front nine in just under 2 hours. It’s out in country but worth the drive if you are in the Cincinnati/Dayton area.
Nice Layout - but needs rain badly
very friendly and helpful small staff - formerly one of top country clubs around - layout is moderate with challenges if you can't keep on the fairway - many trees come into play and doglegs are all to the left favoring a golfer who can draw the ball - slicers will find this challenging - only played front nine - first tee box is a disaster after the drought of early September - all dirt and some crab grass. Only water the greens and the approach - but after #3 the land is lower and retains more moisture so it was more attractive and fairways in better condition - greens were not fast but lots of undulation
Worth a try - but I bet it will be beautiful in mid October - lots of trees and NO houses around course - just natural woodlands. On front nine there was NO water anywhere to worry about - but lots of trees and areas where the natural growth would swallow your ball
Not worth the money
I’ve played my fair share of average and fair places around me. I enjoyed the layout of the course. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are not good and might be the worst I’ve every played. I’m not trying to tear this place apart but whew
Overall good
Overall this was a good course. Greens were in great shape, rolled pretty fast. Fairways were also good and rough wasnt too high. Extremely playable and a good routing. The tee boxes severely need some work, not what I was expecting.
