Brown's Run Country Club
About
Brown's Run Country Club in Middletown offers a championship layout that stretches to just over 6,830 yards. The team of William and Brian Gordon, brothers who have designed more than 85 golf courses all over the U.S., designed Brown's Run in 1958. It has a classic layout that is gentle enough for beginners, but it is an enjoyable round no matter what skill level. There are a few strategically placed sand traps throughout the golf course, which make up for the absence of water. The design is pretty straightforward although there are a few slight doglegs to watch out for. In addition to the challenging but playable design, the course boasts some of the finest fairways and greens in the area. Brown's Run also offers other amenities including an Olympic-size pool and four lighted tennis courts.

For the price it’s so not worth it
The course was in horrible condition. Brown spots everywhere, tee boxes were a mess, greens were damaged in some spots. Golf carts were super slow along with the pace of play and no ranger to attempt to speed up the slow groups. Overall for the 45 dollars I spent I was very disappointed. Not on my list tonplay again soon.
Old School CC
Great old school country club that would be easy to walk. A little slow play but still finished inside 4 hours. Greens in great condition. Fairways and tees a little rough on some holes but really well worth the drive due to layout. I will play again.
Not good for price
I am visiting from Atlanta and was told to my brother in law and myself that it was a pretty decent course. Not the best at all. Some greens were dead and tee boxes in pretty bad shape. I love the old school lay out with trees and dog legs everywhere. That was pretty much it. Definitely not worth the money I paid. I expected more from the course.
I don’t think I would play here again. I played different courses in way better conditions with better amenities around the same price. Sorry not sorry!!!!
Lots of potential but not enough
You can tell the course used to be nice, but it’s turned really brown around a lot of greens, fairways, and tee boxes.
Not what it once was
I played here a number of years ago with a member and was highly impressed with the course layout, plush conditions, and the greens. It was as nicely kept as anywhere I've played.
I played here a week ago and it was in poor shape by comparison. The fairways were crusty brown in desperate need of water. The greens were pretty beat up. I hope they get the money needed to return it to how it once was.
Average Course
Overall, course was in good shape. Several fairways were burned out and a few quirky holes. Definitely a course to play once a year, but not every weekend
Ignores State Mandate
Employees don’t wear masks in the pro shop despite the state mandate. Course is OK at best - not a straight fairway on the course and way overrated on here. Certainly not worth risk bringing COVID home thanks to maskless employees.
Very nice course price a little to high for golfnow
Not the Good Old Browns Run
Was a member there 20 years, left 5 years ago. It is a shame to see the course in such terrible shape. Greens burnt up, fairways have brown spots and weeds and clover has taken over the rough. Needs some serious TLC. $55 for a round here is a ripoff. This is a $35 course at best -- maybe new greens keeper will get this back to decent shape.
Not what it used to be
This used to be one of the best conditioned courses in the area, Played there many times and the greens and fairways were flawless. NOT anymore, Played there yesterday and everything is more brown than green, There were a few greens that were so dry that the ground was cracking (crusty) The fairways and greens look like they are begging for some water, and what used to be lush grass for the rough is now nothing but weeds and clover. Was very disappointed to see what was once a beautiful golf course turning into a wasteland.
Worth it
This is a former country club recently turned public course and it is really still a great course. It is well-maintained, albeit a huge gash on one of the greens on the back nine. They took out a lot of trees and I wish they had been able to keep some of them but they had to go due to ash borer. The course plays very nice and the only reason we had a delay was the group in front of us was not very good. The course challenges the average golfer with many doglegs and undulations in the greens. No water on the course but a beautiful course nonetheless with little traffic noise and great scenic value.
Excellent variety of holes on this course!
Ok, look it was early March so the course was pretty much brown, but it was still in great shape. The greens were winter "slow" but were in great shape. A really good challenge from the blue tees. A target golf course with somewhat elevated greens - some really small and guarded by bunkers to the right and left. Really enjoyed it.
