Green Crest Golf Club
About
Green Crest Golf Club is a player-friendly course located in Middletown. The course was designed in 1972, offering a traditional layout with wide, forgiving fairways and short roughs. The golf course is on the shorter side at 6,271 yards from the back tees, which is indicative of the time it was designed. Strategically placed bunkers lurk along the medium-sized greens on six holes and there are water hazards coming into play on eight holes, but the challenges are straightforward and don't present too much trouble for high handicappers. It might not be the golf course you're looking for if you want a truly formidable test, but it's a good option if you're looking for a quick and affordable round. Green Crest Golf Club is ideal for beginners and even gentle enough for juniors.

Cut the grass
They desperately need to cut their grass the fairways are long and the rough is terrible. If you are not in fairway count the ball gone. For the price they should be able to cut the grass. There tees times are close together. It took 5.5 hours to play 18 waiting at every hole.
Great condition but slow greens
We had a nice time and the course was in great condition, very green and lush. Unfortunately the greens felt very slow which made putting somewhat frustrating. We had a great time though, and the staff was professional and ensured a good pace of play.

Underwhelmed
I’m no pro golfer but I’ve played enough to know that you get what you pay for. Unfortunately in this particular case the cost for course didn’t match up. $40 isn’t a terrible price but what drew the line for our group was the pace of play and the condition of the course. There were points where we were three groups back on a tee box and it took us almost 7 hours to play 18 holes. I know it’s a beautiful Saturday and courses get busy but I could have walked to the clubhouse grabbed lunch, talked to every member about how I sliced my last ball better than donatos pizza and probably go and said hi to my mother before even getting a chance to tee off. Ok that’s a little extreme but to wrap this up , the bottom line was the pace was a lot worse than other courses I’ve been to as well as the condition and the other courses were cheaper. Just not the way I wanted to spend my Saturday golfing

Wouldn’t go back due to pace of play
I’ve played this course multiple times. I have the same opinion every time. Course is in good shape, they charge a bit too much in my opinion, and they don’t have anyone monitoring pace of play. I’ve never seen any rangers or anyone from the course outside of the club house. On top of that they book tee times far too close together. I played yesterday. Tee time was at 2:30, they had us all tee off on 10(there was not a person on the first tee), and I didn’t tee off until 3:00. By the time 7:00 rolled around, we were so stacked up, I called it quits on hole 3. It took 4 hours to play 12 holes. I would not recommend this course, ESPECIALLY during high traffic times on weekends.

good but pricey
Course is fair for beginners who don't really know the difference or what its like to play on a better course. A bit pricey for 9 or 18 holes. Hard to distinguish the difference between the fairway and rough. The fairway needs to be cut lower but probably can't be because they don't have the right type of grass there. The 10th hole is somewhat of an unfair dogleg left / basically a 90 degree turn. Greens are in good shape for a public course. The only thing that would stop me from playing again is the price, which I think was $34/person with a cart. Even then I might consider it.

Needs some maintenance
The grass is overgrown making it almost impossible to find a ball if you don't hit the fairway. The grass that was cut is just laying on the ground making your second shot difficult .

Friendly staff.
Great course for walking. Pace of play was slow to start but smoothed out. Walking 9 in a group of 4 on a Monday evening took about 2.5 hours. Cashier, starter and ranger were all friendly and I was paired up with a great group. Will definitely return!

Very slow pace
The course had really thick rough and the fairways weren't as well kept as you could hope for. The greens were in fantastic shape. I played solo and my round was 5 hours long. You will be sitting behind the team in front of you the whole playing time so make sure to either bring a companion to talk to or get to know the people ahead.

A great course with horrible crowding issues.
I have played Green Crest a number of times and have always enjoyed the setup and maintenance of the course and the extremely friendly staff. Great people at this course and one of my favorites in Cincinnati on a good day. That being said, I will not return here on the weekend in the future unless I have an opportunity to play early in the morning. The pace of play here spirals out of control very, very quickly due to the absurdly short 8-minute gap between tee times which creates a significant backlog of groups. We arrived for our 11:40 tee time 20 minutes early and teed off 10 minutes late due to the group before us having to wait to tee off. We finished the first hole at a reasonable pace and arrived on the second tee to find the foursome in front of us still waiting for the group in front of them to move off the fairway. By the third tee,, *three* groups were backlogged waiting to tee off. The backlog remained for the duration of our round, which we cut short at 9 holes, because it took us 3 hours to play the front 9. The staff was gracious enough to provide course credit for use at a later date, but we would’ve preferred to play a full 18. Heed my advice; avoid this course on weekends if you aren’t one of the first groups out on the course.

Nice course but overpriced and overbooked
I used to play this course a lot a few years back. Stopped playing when they raised the prices and always overbooked it. Decided to give it another shot but was disappointed. We waited on every tee box for at least 5-10 minutes. Played a 5 1/2 hour round. For $48 you can find way nicer and less crowded courses in the area.

Not a bad course, but could improve
Pace of play was great. Got 18 in under 4 hours. Biggest complaint is there isn’t much difference between rough and fairway. There was a good deal of rain recently so that may have contributed but at least on this day there wasn’t much benefit to being on the fairway.

Don’t Waste Your Time or Money
In my opinion, Greencrest is the least enjoyable public golf course in southwestern Ohio and I have played most of them. It is a sometimes bizarre, quirky layout that can be incredibly tight in places. For example, #9 has an extremely narrow fairway requiring super precise placement to not end up in trees on either side. On #10, you have a spot about 15 yards square where you can land your tee shot and have a clear approach. #2 and #3 run parallel to one another with a narrow strip of trees between them which causes all kinds of confusion with players searching for balls, picking up the balls of other players and slowing down play. #4 requires an accurate tee shot that still leaves you 200 yards from the green over water. 7 is a par 3 laid out due west and uphill. If you play in the afternoon on a sunny day, good luck! On the front nine, the noise from I-75 is obnoxious and overbearing. A number of the greens are small and crowned and completely unreceptive. On #13, you have a space of about 15’ x 15’ where you can land the ball, even with a wedge, where it is likely to hold the green. In the spring when grass is growing furiously, they are always behind on mowing leaving you with 4-6” rough in many places. In the summer, the course tends to burn out and it’s like playing off of hard pan. They will allow the course to be open when there is ankle-deep water in many of the fairways and bunkers. The rangers can be pushy and rude. All in all, there are many other courses that are much better choices. This should be your last resort. If you are a mid-high handicap player, i is unlikely that you will enjoy this course.
