Madison Country Club
About
Opened in 1923, Madison Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the area. It has a traditional design that measures to a modest 6,145 yards from the back tees. The golf course may be short by modern standards but this member-owned course has been a local favorite since it first opened. The classic layout has wide, player-friendly fairways that offer plenty of room and the terrain is mostly flat, making it a good golf course to walk. There are a few mature trees scattered throughout and you'll also come across some strategically placed bunkers as well. Madison Country Club is ideal for beginners but it's also a great round of practice for more advanced players. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and short-game area at the club.

Challenging but fair
Course was in very good shape. Greens were challenging but true rolling. Lost a few strokes since I hadn't played the course in quite a while and found water hazards and traps not visible from where I was hitting. Bunkers could have used a little more fluffy sand, wedge tended to bounce off the sand rather than through it.
A course worth the trip!
The course was in great shape. A very interesting design for an older course - strategy both off the tees as well as for the approach shots. Not many forced carries. Bunkers are there and tough but usually only if you hit a bad shot as it should be. The greens were among the fastest I've seen this summer. The golf now deal made it worth the 40 minute trip from the People's Republic of Cleveland Heights.
fast play
played 18 holes in three and a half hours on Sunday
Great course, great round
Greens were in the best condition and the rest of the course was well maintained. Picked a good time - not very crowded. The workers were very pleasant. Highly recommend playing here if you get a chance.
Love this course
This was my third time playing the course. The course is very well maintained. Lots of sand and water make it challenging, but it is still very doable. People are friendly and welcoming. Wish it was closer - I'd play it more often!
Classic Country Club
If you want the feel of playing a classic, old-style country club, this is a great experience. Not particularly long, but mature with fairly tight fairways and severe greens. You needed to not only drive it between the trees, but in the right part of the fairway. Greens were tremendously receptive and lightning downhill. Fun when you can throw it past the pin and bring it back, but get too close where you can't get any spin and its tough. Do not go over a green here, had several birdie ops turn into doubles that way. Had two deer cross in front as we were readying our tee shots.
Great course
Pace of play was great and course was in great shape
Hidden gem
Before I came here the first time, everyone I mentioned it to told me I'd love it. Nobody ever had a bad thing to say.
This is actually the second time this year I've made the trip to Madison. What a delightful place to play. I now fully expect even more people to agree with me when I bring it up.Beautiful layout, great, friendly staff, and obviously a dedicated and well directed grounds crew. We played after 3 days of hard rain, and the course still looked great.
Tough and Fun
Very Fast Greens held a shot nicely if lofted high. 4 Hour 10 minute round with 2 couples foursomes in front of us, and a crowded course, pretty good pace of play for a busy day. Difficult course, very windy, shot 93 from Whites, and was happy with it. Not a good track for beginning golfers, unless they play forward a set of tees. Will go back again.
madison countrt club
Fine old well developed. Course. Good greens. In great shape
Great Experience
A great value as it is a country club experience at GolfNow prices. The condition of the course and courtesy of the staff were outstanding. Worth the drive.
The corse has large fast greens
The course was in great condition and the staff was very friendly. Greens are fast and in great condition.
Strongly recommend
My first time playing this fun and fair course. Gorgeous course in great condition. Challenging enough but not brutally punishing. Great bargain and would again make the 50 minute drive to play.
Good Course
The course is in good condition. The staff is very freindly.
Give it another look
If you have been disappointed with this course in the last few years try giving it a new look. New management has made great strides in bringing this gem back to it's former glory. My first time back in two years was a real eye opener. Terrific value!
challenging course, nice facilities, well maintained greens & fairways......self entitled crotchety old men....
Course was pretty immaculate in therms of condition. Everything was very well kept. Tee boxes, fairways, greens, everything was very nice. Pretty challenging course (either that or I was having an awful day). Handful of water hazards but lots of sand. The only thing we didn't like about this course was that @ the turn we were informed that the groups behind us weren't happy with our pace of play (Front 9 in 1hr 45min...no reason for complaints) They were always coming up to the tee when we were on the green, not sure what their issue was aside from being old and crabby. They could have simply asked to play through and we would have obliged. Instead they decided to keep calling the clubhouse and whining so that when we stopped in to get some snacks and a drink after 9, management informed us. The manager, ranagers, clubhouse staff, everyone was super nice and even said that this group behind us whines and complains about EVERYTHING so we just brushed it off. Clubhouse manager even gave us our snacks and Gatorade for free for being patient and letting them pass us. Again, the crotchety old fools could have just asked in the first place and there would have been no issue. So long story short, excellent course and facility, annoying, crabby, self entitles members.
Madison CC-overbooked
Course was average at best. Pace of play was terrible. Ranger either had no authority or didn't care to enforce the pace of play. At the turn we had 4 groups backed up on the 10th tee since the first group there decided that they could sit down and have a snack at the snack bar. everybody knew they were doing it, but they allowed them to tee off in the same order, thus holding everybody else up!
Lived up to the hype
First time I played it after hearing good things about it from a few different people and all good things were true the greens were in great shape and rolled true the rough was very fair and the pace of olay was great on a tues 930 tee time and the staff was very friendly
Nice course in fantastic shape.
I have played Madison CC in the past but not this year. (2014) The course is in fantastic shape. In the past it was average. Its not easy by any stretch but even a high handicapper will enjoy the round. The greens were rolling nice and true. I highly recommend playing at Madison. All the bunkers were raked and maintained. Rough was not too severe.
