Golfer Reviews
Nice course, food and beverage lacking
First time playing this course. True to the reviews, it was in good shape. Greens were solid and well maintained as were fairways. Bunkers on the other hand looked as if they were not touched all year and showed some serious drainage issues.
There was no beverage cart service for whatever reason (tee time at 10AM) so that was unfortunate. We were told at the cart return that the restaurant was closed but we could get food at the downstairs food hut. The girl working there looked very overwhelmed and informed us all she had for food were a few ham and cheese sandwiches, she said she didn't have time to put brats or hot dogs on yet (it was 2PM, not sure what she was waiting on). I normally don't ding a course for this as my main purpose is golf, not food...I wouldn't let this stop me from going back even though it's not around the corner. Staff was friendly and outgoing.
Very nice course
Played as a threesome on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy but we were able to play in less than 4 hours.
The course was in great shape. Fairways were excellent, the rough was in U.S. Open condition and the greens were fine. The only problem is that the 'entitled" do not undergo the inconvenience of fixing their ball marks.
Everyone associated with the Cumberland made us feel welcome. That is impressive.
Great course, slow play
Course is excellent but you better allot for 5-6 hour rounds. Had to wait for a cart, was told over 225 rounds were booked that one day. Great course in excellent condition, pace of play is the only downfall to this track.
Overall very good course
This was my first time playing this course and I will definitely come back.
Pros:
• fairways are in great condition
• greens are very well maintained and just challenging enough
• Course layout is good with a good mix on hole design. Some holes are straightforward but others you need to think through your club selection.
Cons:
• I was told in the pro shop the driving range was closed (although people were there hitting)
• I arrived early to warm up but the starter sent me out immediately.
Surprising Gem
I had never played Cumberland Trails. It is a fair course with the right amount of challenge. It is well maintained and offered at a reasonable price.
Best Maintained Course
Pros:
—exceptional care given to this course! You can tell they put a lot of time and money into maintaining it! By far my favorite course
—beautiful greens, fairways, & tee boxes
—super friendly staff
—drink cart comes around few times a round
—tasty restaurant and to-go sandwiches at the outdoor bar if you are hungry before and mid game
—great layout with many challenges but not too difficult
—clean clubhouse, outside area, and tee boxes
—ball is pretty easy to find in the rough
Cons:
—hard to get a tee time with leagues playing nearly every night. I would become a member but it’s not worth trying to play around the leagues blocks.
—bunkers aren’t great but that’s understandable considering they aren’t allowed to have rakes out during the pandemic. The bunkers are still far better than their competitors
—pace can be slow. I frequently get behind guys that won’t let my group play through
—I’ve played multiple times and got stuck behind beginner/intermediate golfers playing from the black and blue tees and it takes them way to long to play the course. They average 8 shots a hole.
Great Course!
This is a fantastic course! The turf is the same they use at Muirfield, and is very much drought resistant. The staff inside the clubhouse was friendly, and the carts being left out were easy to access.
The only negative of this round was being paired with an extremely slow 2-some, but it's always random pairings on a busy day.
Highly recommend! Especially for the price after 3:15!!
