Cumberland Trail Golf Club

I played yesterday, 1st time since new owners have taken over, and I was pleasantly surprised. The lady that checked us in was very friendly, and got us out quickly. It was $19 with cart for 9 holes, which starting so late I thought was OK, because we only got to play 8 holes. I am optimistic about the turn around after playing last summer and the course being in terrible shape. They are working the traps, cutting down dead trees, and cleaning the course up. What my concern is the cost for 18 holes on the weekend. The board said $55 with cart. Where this course is located, this pricing is what has caused three owners in 4 years. Being on the far east side of Columbus, that rate is way too high. This course should be prime time $42 with cart, and in the afternoon, $35 going down to $25 after 4 in the summer. The course will not get enough revenue to support the course at that rate. Wish they would get a clue, because this could be a nice high end course if they would price it right.

The course is good. If the charge is going to be as much as I paid, the bunkers should be maintained. Very poor condition at this time of the year.

Very nice course, well maintained!!! The only negative, you could not use woods on the driving range.

I arrived at Cumberland Trail about 30 minutes before my tee time. The staff was reorganizing the pro shop so it looked bare but they had a lot of boxes to unpack. Staff was very friendly. Holes 1-6 breezed by but when I got to the 7th the pace of play slowed to a halt. I was playing as a single so I understand that will happen and had no problem waiting a few extra minutes on the tee. A few extra minutes turned into 10-15 every hole. When I reached the turn, I asked the group in front of me if I could play through. They said sure but said they were slowed by another group. I get to the 10th tee, wait until the group in front got off the green to give them space, when the the group that let me through pulled right in front of me and hurried to the tee. Very frustrating to say the least. There was no ranger on the course to hurry play which would have helped.

I have played this course many times but will only play it when I can get a good deal. Normal price is to high considering all the other courses around

This course used to be in much better shape. The bunkers are extremely poor to the point of taking a drop if you go in. Greens have slowed considerably over the last few years. Poor quality grounds keeping has killed this course.

The course was under new management and there was no golf attire or anything to purchase at the time. The bunkers were very poor condition. Many of them were mud and not sand. Their computer system was not set up to register the golfnow tee time, so there were a lot of double booked tee times and a long wait out on the course. The greens rolled nice, but the course was very wet from previous rain. Hopefully they get things situated because this was one of the premier courses in the Columbus area.

Greens were good but bunkers need a lot of attention.

Played this course one time in "99". Loved the greens then and they are still nice. They made some changes on certain holes which makes it my first time playing this course but I'd play it again for sure.

Nice, short par 5's and easy to pin it close on the 3's.

I play here about twice a year. The last two years by far have been the worst I have seen course conditions. And today, was just terrible. Tee's were beat up. Fairways were decent, but littered with weeds, dandelions everywhere and I mean every where. Greens looked burnt up. I am not sure what is going on here, but I would be embarrassed to invite any one from outta town to play here anymore... Hopefully they get it together the layout is just to nice to let go. Oh and yeah one bunker rack on the whole course....

I live close by and have traditionally considered this course as good as any public or private course in Columbus, even becoming a member a few years back. However, more recently the conditions have significantly deteriorated. It started with the bunkers, then the rough got a little spotty. Now it is course wide. Dandelions were everywhere including fairways and tees. The greens were very rough, for this course, although it is still early in the season so im not nearly as concerned about that. The dandelions were as bad as it gets. A poor country course usually doesn't have dandelions. I gave a 2 star rating simply because the staff is as nice as it gets. Cumberland Trail will get my business again this year so that i can measure their progress on improvements, but if it doesnt improve soon im afraid ill steer clear for quite some time.

Friendly people. Layout is a bit awkward

The reviews of this course lately have been negative and i completely understand why. We were out here a month ago and it was pretty roughed up but it appears they are listening and trying to make improvements. They had new sand in a few bunkers mostly the ones that come into play. The greens were recently treated and were back in the old condition as some of the best in the area. They are trying to get it back in good shape. Still on my top 5 list.

Corporate seems to be taking funds and shipping them else were rather than spending on course. Played there in a league this year. Sand traps are a joke, absolutely terrible shape and 90% have no sand at all. Greens are bumpy and you cannot get a smooth put if you tried. It's like corporate has give up on the course. Could be great, wonder layout and scenery. Just poorly taken care of. THe staff I'd friendly, hot dogs and burgers are great

My buddy and I were excited to try this course after reading that they had some of the nicest greens in central Ohio. Unfortunately, that is not that case. The greens could be some of the nicest, but they are so damaged from divots that you would be hard-pressed to find a smooth roll all the way to the hole. The number of club divots from approach shots made the fairways look like the PGA tour had just came through town. About half of the bunkers were in good shape, while the other half appeared to not be maintained. I kept saying to my buddy, "Man, they would have to shut this course down for a whole season to address all of the issues". The food was good and the staff was friendly. My buddy does not want to return, but I may give it another chance in the future.

We are relatively new/beginning golfers, and enjoyed this course a lot. Not so challenging that you feel defeated, but still provided plenty of "did you SEE that shot?" moments.
Wish we lived closer, we'd probably play this more often.
We played the front nine only, so we'll be back for the back track next time!

Great course. Fun and challenging course but forgiving with a bad shot. My only complaints was the sand was hard in some spots but perfect in others. The greens were a little rough in some spots but were in the process of being fixed. Overall great course in my opinion.
