Beckett Ridge Golf Club

About
Beckett Ridge Golf Club was designed by Jack Kidwell, a well known name in Ohio golf. The course has a classic design that is inlaid with meandering streams that weave through stands of mature trees. The rolling landscape was deftly incorporated into the golf course. The layout offers a variety of holes ranging from long to short, tight to open. It is definitely a course that requires some strategy. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. It measures 541 yards, but this downhill hole plays much shorter. There are out-of-bounds on either side and the tricky fairway slopes right to left but with some strategy and a little skill it is possible to make it home in two. Beckett Ridge is one of Southwest Ohio's best golf courses.

10th Hole at Beckett Ridge Photo submitted by Wahwah87 on 04/10/2013
Great value on this site!!!
The course needs some polishing, but overall it's a great value for the $20 price we got. A buck a hole is only a little worse than the driving range!
Needs TLC
Had been a few years since I played here. This course has a good layout just needs some love. The day I played there were quite a few holes that were chewed up. Maybe they are winding down into the off-season, I'm not sure.
Staff Interaction
The starter was excellent. Shared a ton of helpful guidance and info. Snack bar gal was very abrupt and curt. Not friendly at all. Not welcoming.
The Course has gone downhill
Was very disappointed with what I saw out on the course for a once very solid golf course.
The Tee Boxes - awful - looked like nobody had done anything to them since the beginning of the season
The greens - probably 30% of them had half the green with dead grass on it and it was just brown
The bunkers - unplayable - don’t think anyone has touched these bunkers all season
The fairways - were surprisingly in decent shape although there were a decent amount of spots that looked like a desert
Yet, with all these issues they still charge $70. There are so many courses in the city worth playing over Beckett.
A course that used to be a staple is somewhere I’m not sure I’ll ever be back to unless I hear of some serious changes being made by ownership to actually take care of the course.
NICE MONDAY AT BECKETT RID
I had an online Hot Deal reservation for 12:30, and I arrived at early 12:05, no problem to start early, food first inpressipn from the extremely friendly Pro-Shop manager. Then, I was able to play all 18 holes without seeing any golfer in-front or in-back of me. Very relaxed on a course that is very hilly, but very well kept after their big renovation 3 years ago. Would be nice to have bathrooms along the course open, there were 2 sets built, but they were locked or "Out for the Season".
Terrible Conditions
The fact that they were still charging 75 dollars for the round, with the condition that the course was in, was gross. Fairways baked out, half the greens weren’t even playable, and they must have aerated 2 days prior.
Course was in Terrible Condition
This course usually looks great and plays really well, but I could have never imagined that it could be so poorly taken care of in my round this weekend. Every tee box has barely any grass and is destroyed. Most of the fairways appear baron in some areas with just dry cracked dirt down the way. The greens were not only just aerated but have the same problem of being dry and beat up all around. It seems like they have no sprinklers and have just let the grass go on every hole. $60 dollars for a round is a little bit pricier than most the public courses in the area, and this course just does not seem worth the extra dollars in its current state.
Rough Summer
This course was in such good shape in the spring. The summer has been tough on it with burnt fairways and greens and what looks like fungus issues on some of the greens. Looks like they missed watering quite a few times. Hopefully it will be back next spring. Probably won’t go back until then as the value isn’t there for what they charge.
Yikes
I’ve never left an online review before. But 100% necessary for this. Course was in horrendous shape. 60-70% of balls in the fairway were unplayable due to dirt/mud instead of grass on course. Greens were punched a few days prior. Was like putting on a beach. I’ve played here for 4-5 years and never seen it this bad. The price of a round has almost doubled, while the quality of the course has suffered tremendously. Used to be one of my favorite courses in the area. But since it was sold recently, it has gone massively downhill. Highly suggest playing elsewhere. This is more like a $15-$20 round quality course at the moment. Not $60 for an early morning weekday tee time.
Disappointed.
I loved the layout of the course. Lots of great holes and the new clubhouse is very nice. However, I was disappointed with the conditions of several of the fairways and tee boxes. Fairways looked very beat up a lot of the tee boxes were overgrown with weeds. Beckett Ridge is a more expensive course to play around Cincy and those conditions are not indicative of an expensive course.
Good course in rough shape for the price
The course was in great shape earlier this year but was in real rough shape in areas this week. Multiple fairways were burnt out and had giant ruts where you could tell someone drove through it when it was soggy. Tee boxes weren’t much better. Greens were in pretty good shape for the most part.
Shame the course was in the condition it’s in given where it was and its potential. Probably won’t be back until next year.
could be better…..
For the $30 discounted price I paid, the course was okay, but not great. Many, many bare muddy spots in fairways, eroded areas near greens, tee markers that hadn’t been moved in a while……less than great. This was supposed to have been redone and improved several years ago, if it was I would hate to have seen what it looked like back then. Course could be so much more.
Challenging Course - Excellent Greens
Several Fairways were burned out, which was surprising, given the area has had above average rainfall all year. Tee boxes were also in rough shape and dried out, which again, surprising in that the area is +6 inches on the rainfall averages YTD.
The saving grace for my experience is that the greens were, for the most part, impeccable. Receptive and deceptively quick, they were some of the best greens that I’ve ever putted… and for that reason alone, I’ll be back.
Not worth the money
For $48 on nine holes I’d expect the greens to be in pretty decent condition. However they are most certainly not. The tee boxes were an absolute mess… One was so bad they had made it off to the side… in the ROUGH. Don’t get me started on ball marks. The water stains on the course map display in the cart made reading the screen almost impossible, thank goodness I had Windex in my car when loading my clubs. Municipal courses for half the price are in better shape… Spend your money elsewhere.
