Manakiki Golf Course
About
Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

Good Winter GOlf
Course was in fairly decent shape for late December. Holes were varied, and interesting. Nice variety of straight forward, dog legs, undulations, and elevation changes. Along with Sleepy Hollow, this is the best the Metro Parks has to offer in their line-up. Will be looking forward to playing again next year in the summer to really see all the course has to offer.
Greens will be nice to see in the summer. Lots of slopes - but covered in sand as they prepped for the winter ahead (if it ever comes).
Pace of Play was great - considering there were no more than 5 groups on the course itself.
Favorite course in Cleveland
Great layout and very scenic. This course is a treat to play.
Good condition for this time of year!
Greens were punched and sandy, but fairly true, and mostly leaf free. Tees were punched but ok. Fairways were beautiful and relatively leaf free. Holes number 10 and 18 were as scenic as anywhere in the country. You just kind of stand in awe and realize that there are few other places you would rather be.
Wonderful
I have played this course around 3-4 times (both nines) and have thoroughly enjoyed myself every time. There are no easy holes on this Donald Ross masterpiece. Definitely bring your game and a couple extra balls when you play here.
Just been punched
Course is usually in great condition, however on Golf Now they forgot to mention that the just punched the greens on the front 9 (full of sand), back 9 haven't been punched yet..... So the course shouldnt offer 18 hole specials on greens punched that same morning, allow a grace period atleast...was like playing on the beach....rest of the course was great as usual.
Great Track
We play Manakiki all the time and the course was in the best shape I have seen in a while. The green's crew has done a great job this summer with all the heat and rain. Appreciate the effort.
Great place
course was in great condition and very challenging.
Beautiful course, slow pace of play
I'm a big fan of the layout of the course, and it's very well maintained. I'd argue the layout is the nicest on the eastside of Cleveland. It feels like a private course.
With that said, it's only a great course to play if you have plenty of time. The pace of play kills me. There's a ranger out, but he rarely moves play along. Often times I think they overbook, but in the case of this round we had a very slow group in front of us. A guy in our group was playing his third round of golf ever and we were still waiting on every tee. The group in front of us had nobody in front of them. They were playing from the black tees and losing balls consistently. It happens, but it's the job of the course to move that group along - they probably added 45+ minutes to our round.
I also don't love that it's surrounded by houses and roads, but there's nothing the course can do about that.
Again, I recommend this course because it's a wonderfully designed layout, but you have to be ready to wait. For me it's worth the wait, for some it might not be.
Very Nice Golf Course
Course was in great shape, fairways lush and the greens consistent. I was very impressed with this course and will definitely return!
One of the best courses in NE Ohio, 5 hour round every single time
This course is gorgeous and challenging. A Donald Ross gem.
However, it will be a 5 hour round every. single. time you play here. There are simply too many people who play this course who do not possess the level of play that is required.
If you play on the weekend after 9am, prepare yourself for a 5 1/2 hour round.
Horrible Staff / Great Course / Will Never Play There Again
My father and I don't get to play golf together often so decided to get a 7:39am tee time the other morning for late Father's Day together. The Starter paired us with an older walking gentleman. We asked if we could just play us two since the front desk said course was pretty open. Starter was rude telling us no, raised his voice multiple times, and interrupted us every time we tried to speak. At the turn he made sure to badger us again until we drove off to hole 10. HE WAS SO RUDE I VOW TO NEVER PLAY THERE AGAIN - Despite the course in great shape and love the lay-out. It's sad one person can ruin it for us. I am scratch and shot 72 and my father is a 12 cap and shot 83.
Had a blast
except for pace of play it was one of the nicest courses i've played. The night before it rained an inch and a half but the fairways and greens were perfect. the greens were running an 11 on the stimp meter which i loved. when i go back to Ohio i will definitly play there again.
excellent course
Course waS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, ESPECIALLY GIVING THE AMOUNT OF RAIN WE HAVE RECIEVED.
Really nice course
I have played Manakiki at least a couple of times a year since 1980 and it continues to be a great place to play. In recent years, the Metroparks people have rebuilt many of the holes, making them spectacular to look at and fun to play, although several (10 and 18, expecially) of the holes look downright scary from the tee. This time out I saw several new tee boxes that make for very different approaches to the same holes. The rain this year has helped to create really good conditions. And we got a fantastic rate ($18 for 18 holes with cart and 12:45 on a Sunday) from GolfNow.
great track
this place is always nice course conditions are second to none
Decent place to play golf. Their formal dining hall is great.
Truly enjoy the course with friends. The pace of play was rather slow during the time of my play and no Rangers to assist in moving play along at a reasonable pace..
Stay out of the rough!
Course was great, but tough! The rough was thick and really punished you for missing the fairway.
Great Ohio Course
I've played this course on and off since the 70s as a teenager but I have moved away to CA. When I visit in the right season I like to golf here because of location, price, friendliness and the beauty and challenge of the course. The course in early May was fabulous. The rough was long and the grass sticky (as usual)- club up! Club up on those shots up onto those elevated greens too! Great time - I played 18 two days in a row and fully enjoyed the course and beautiful grounds.
- a true gem.
The starter here has been an issue for a long time. I don't understand how he is still in a position where he has to interact with other people. Shockingly rude every time without fail.
